Hotter take incoming - have fun Jason. Dude Ranch feels like Mark effortlessly writing good lyrics. +44 feels like Mark trying hard to write good lyrics. (But really, those 2 albums are Mark's best lyrics, for sure.)
This. +44 was I'm angry at Tom so here's my resentful record. Dude Ranch was young Mark just flowing off the cuff.
Ok, so some of the song times on the back of the advance version of Dude Ranch are different than the retail version. But upon downloading the advance version, looks like those times are just wrong. "I'm Sorry" is exactly the same as the retail version, except it doesn't have the dog lapping track at the end. "Dog Lapping" is its own track on the advance version, with about 4 minutes of silence after it. And then it goes into a live version of "The Country Song" as a secret bonus track. Interesting.
I’m guessing that Dog Lapping is combined with The Country Song and that’s why the track is so long. Edit: Just read your above post.
I'm not sure why "I'm Sorry" is listed as being like 20 seconds longer, but whatever. Seems to just be an error.
When I saw Blink in 99 with Silverchair, was surprised they played "Pathetic" while NOT playing "Josie".
For me it’s less of one record and it’s the progression of darker more narrative lyrics that have been present since Adam’s song, but became his bread and butter. From UNTITLED - Neighborhoods it was when it was at its most raw and honest before he became more interested in doing more hooky pop songs. I do think +44 is the best showcase of mark at his strongest as a song writer. My hot take is Lillian is his best bridge in the trove of incredible Bridges’s. I love that song so much.
More than an anniversary tour, I liked the OMT tour setlist approach. Mega tour showcasing the new album, the hits, and a couple surprises, and the smaller more intimate tour with a killer direct support and some serious gems in the setlist. If they do that again but expand the second tour I’d be psyched. I don’t think there’s a single album tour that would really get me excited because they’ve done it so much already, and what makes blink so rad is the varied releases imo.

I always imagined Mark and Tom told Mark Trombino they want to write a song that sounded like something from JEW's Static Prevails and they came up "Emo." I love that song.
It's such a great album. I go back a lot of times just to listen to the interlude because I love the electronic elements so much, I just end up listening to the whole album.
