Recently I created a game that has 2 random Blink songs face off head to head and you pick your favorite. I also just created a separate Side Projects Arena which now is a competition between +44, AVA, Simple Creatures, and Boxcar Racer songs. Winner’s ranking goes higher and loser ranking goes lower. Has a leaderboard for all the songs and can sort rankings based upon album as well Blink-182.net – Unofficial Blink-182 Fansite
Been listening to the premade year end wrapped playlist songs and im finding I skip all the blink OMT 1 and 2 songs because I just love listening to it as one big album rather than isolated songs. I am so excited to hear what comes next. Wondering if they are demoing at all or writing riffs / parts. It is wild though that the album is two years old and still feels brand new every play through.
I work in a clinic bulk of our patients are 70+. We played some random SiriusXM station for Christmas songs. Mostly pop and classics. But there was a little segment where they did pop punk. They played I won't be home for Christmas. In its entirety. Unedited. Awkward doesn't begin to describe it haha.
EDIT: I didn’t realize Apple Music was still taking stuff from my hard drive and putting it on my iTunes. Got a new phone for Christmas and this auto downloaded. I just thought it was a mistake by the label.
I listened to TOYPAJ today and it’s a really interesting push and pull dynamic. As everyone knows, they played it for their manager who pointed out there were no surefire hit singles which then prompted them to add “The Rock Show” and “First Date”. Listening back, he was kinda right as without those songs it plays like a more dynamic Enema Of The State without the obvious wings. I like how you can hear them lay the ground for the self-titled in the Cure-like quiet sections of “Story Of A Lonely Guy” and obviously “Stay Together For The Kids”. The back half is a little bit by-the-numbers but obviously they are one of the best in this style so still a pleasure to hear. When I got this album at 17, I thought the songs about fucking dogs and Grandpa were dumb and I still do however I understand it was likely catnip for 11 year olds who got the CD and got a kick out of hiding those songs from their parents.
TOYPAJ was the locker room album for our jv soccer team. Every day when getting ready for practice it would blast
I think any song on that album could have been a single. Especially ETILFY, Roller Coaster, Story of a Lonely Guy, and Online Songs. Mark kicked ass on TOYPAJ.
Tom’s guitar sounds on that album is perfection too. Jerry Finn produced the shit out of that album, it sounds so good.
Reckless Abandon and Roller Coaster would have been banger singles. This album has my favorite deeper cuts and it’s not particularly close.
This all just reminds me that blink should actually put out a formal rarity / b-side release at some point
