Is that phrase like the Blink Reddit's new favorite phrase lately? I keep seeing it tossed around over there and I don't get it.
Is this rhetorical? You’re asking the family that has probably eight different versions of LOTR within sight right now.
Lmao, at least those took 70 years to produce, not 3 months lol. All i’m saying is give me a second book rather than stuffing extra chapters into this one!
What’s the difference really though? If you don’t have enough content for another book? Dave Grohl did the same with his recent book. Maybe I’m the wrong person for this question though, cause I own multiple deluxe and “special edition” copies of my favorite books. And have spent annoying amounts of money on them too. Same with records/deluxe albums.
I don’t love the idea of a deluxe edition of a book. I have Mark’s book sitting on my shelf as we speak but have yet to read it because of lack of free time, but if I knew a deluxe were coming out in say the next 6-8 months or so I’d probably just hold off, sell off this copy, and grab the complete story when it’s out. That’s just me
I think for me it boils down to the time between releases. Anniversary editions feel more like a celebration of media and enough time has passed where deluxe editions (especially the more recent trend of everything getting a deluxe within a year) feel like you’re intentionally selling something twice. I will say though blink releasing that stand-alone OMT Part 2 is a trend i’d like to see continued that I haven’t seen too many artists do. This is mostly just the completionist in me annoyed at my ever shrinking shelf space lol.
I just looked in one book case for fun, every single non-fiction book I have is like version four or above. With new forewords or extra chapters and new photos. I think I’m just more used to expecting my media to always get new editions. And I’ve seen that time between the first and next start to shrink more and more as we move into an attention economy that is basically infinite. To add new songs to streaming is trivial. To update content has just become part of the entire process. From hardback to paperback used to be the “here’s new stuff” timeline. (50th anniversary of Jaws on Friday, I think I saw yet another Blu-ray with new shit for it.)
I wonder if a deluxe version of the book may just mean it has a different cover or something, and maybe not more stories. But who knows.
In the book world lately its been common for deluxe editions of novels (mostly sci fi) to have sprayed edges. wouldn’t surprise me if the paperback edition contained bonus chapters. Dan Ozzi did that for the paperback release of Sellout but its too early for a pb edition of Mark’s book. in any case, maybe its an expanded edition with Tom dick pics and sprayed edges of phalluses.
One thing missing from the book that surprised me was A Different Spin/Hoppus on Music. You’d think having your own tv show would warrant some discussion haha.
It's a choose-your-own-adventure deluxe book. The first person who finishes it decides the future fate of blink-182. For real though, I'll take anything that gives any sense of expansion to how they rebuilt blink this time. More in-depth as to feeling out the early days of this reunion, time in the studio, what each band member needed for it to work this time, etc. I get they're all 50 year old dudes who probably just said "Yeah, easy" for all the logistics but man I'd love a deep dive where possible.
Tom Delonge is actually mentioned in a new Wall Street Journal article about a military UFO investigation. https://www.wsj.com/politics/nation...c3d41?st=CZEgso&reflink=article_copyURL_share
Dude Ranch does not "mean" jizz. It's something a portion of the fanbase has not reconned into being true. Not even Mark knew it was a thing until someone mentioned it to him.
