Got to this shot of Mark today before the show started. He cane out and gave people stickers and bookmarks from his book tour.
Can’t believe I’m finally sitting at the show in KC just waiting for blink to come out. Missouri got skipped on the first tour and then they canceled both dates on the second time around… but we are finally here, about to see blink with Tom for the first time since the reunion (and first time at all since like 2009 for me lol)
I'm listening through some songs on Nine. It's been awhile. Heaven, No Heart, Black Rain, Pin the Grenade, Darkside... all spankers (which are even better than bangers)
"So we drank 16 pots of coffee and I ate a dozen donuts and I had this great idea to steal the Adam's Song riff and had Skiba sing a verse just like Mark & Tom used to do..." - Feldman, probably
Halfway through and loving it. Less intense hype and more thoughtful commentary. Love the new life and lore this song has been getting this year. Side note, it’s so funny to me when you can hear the little lisp dudes acquire that use nicotine pouches. Feldy has it bad Finished the pod. - Loved the part about the second verse being intentionally the introduction of Skiba. That’s one of my favorite verses from him and one of his strongest contributions. - Feldy talks about doing a guitar part on the song. That engineer throwing shade in a comment a while back about writing some of Skilba’s parts was so lame. That’s how parts are written these days and there’s a ton of parts on on OMT written by different engineers and producers. - I dig how John talks about Matt’s role in blink. Most of the songs began with mark and John and then matt would bring his lyrics and ideas to refine them. - The whole part about the bridge essentially being a second song and that most #1 radio singles are 2:30 and this one is almost 4 was awesome. - Talking about the oh oh’s with headlining reading in mind is great. Tom gets so juiced up during that part. People have them shit for all the nana’s but it is a quintessential part of early blink. This pod only deepens my love for this song. Very worth the listen. John talks about it with gratitude and respect rather than his typical hyperactive energy.
11 mins in and Feldman just compared himself and Mark to Lennon and McCartney...that would be Mark & Tom, sorry dawg.
Okay, so, like 4 minutes later he does refer to Paul/John again in the context of him and Mark. But it’s not saying they are on par with them. The context is two guys sitting in a room figuring out a song like they would.
