I went to one of the Untitled Anniversary shows and can also attest that it completed something for me that had been itching since 2003. Such an incredible album.
I was at one of the side shows that year where they didn't play the full album, but I still got a pretty sweet setlist with some Dogs Eating Dogs songs.
I went to the KROQ Soundspace show and the first night at the Palladium… also lost my wallet at the show with a flight back the next day. Was such a fall back to earth after riding that blink-high.
Anyone know how much posters have been on this tour? Realizing I don’t have a blink one and if the poster at my date is good I might try to snag one
I’ve never felt like I’ve absolutely needed a foil version of my concert posters. BUT I definitely have to have a regular poster for every blink show I’ve been to.
I feel like the Kansas City show I’m going to will have all the awesome deep cuts thrown out and I’ll just have a basic bitch greatest hits set lol
At my old age I rather get anthem part 3 than hear "16 is unsafe" or "I wish my friends were 21" even if I love all three songs
I feel like I’d prefer OMT to Can’t Go Back but would also still prefer they close with Dammit. No big deal, though.
I'm going to catch them twice at when we were young this year I hope they change the setlist just a little bit both nights even if it is a song or two
I was just watching a video of their performance in North Carolina and they really are sounding good. I really want to see Josie live but I can’t afford a ticket to NH right now and even if I could going there on a weeknight just sounds a little rough.
Big time! There’s a sweet spot on neighborhoods through Nine. The sleeper hit the round out the back third of the album. Feel the same way about Left Alone and PTG. Kaleidoscope lyrically is peak stuff from them. IMO neighborhoods is a really important part of the blink lore. At their most glum, with each member bringing their secret sauce. It is missing it all coming together into a cohesive piece, but that’s kind of what makes it cool.
When Neighborhoods came out I wasn’t really up to date with the whole Blink world and I thought the reunion was ‘genuine,’ but I remember listening to Kaleidoscope and thinking ‘wow, these two guys are scared, or pissed off, or there’s bad blood here.’ I think that song really sums up that whole era. I also believe is really important, there would be no OMT without this “failed” reunion.
I have a pit ticket for the Sat. Sep 27th show I’m selling. Got an emergency medical expense for my eyesight. Glasses broke and the exam and glasses are out of pocket so need to sell my ticket, as much as it sucks balls. I paid $309.50 with fees so I’d at least like $300 for it if anyone is interested! I’m bummed I can’t make it. I especially wanted to see “Online Songs” and “Natives”, but I saw them twice on the last couple of tours so it’ll be okay. Hit me up if you are interested!
Stormy Sunday today and my wife took the kids to a museum to give me some “dad time” at home. I listened to Neighborhoods during that time. I still think it’s their darkest sounding album. Mark definitely had writers block on this one, but he still pulled through.
Yeah, it's such a push/pull album but not in the best way. It's a good album for what the band was at the time, and while we all obviously wanted more, we took what we got. There's some good glimpses of really good stuff in there, but some big misses too. We were all hoping they'd work out the "reunion" kinks as time went on and give us better music and just a less awkward presence, but they weren't there yet. It sucks, but it makes the 2022 reunion/OMT that much more special and awesome. The shift from Neighborhoods to OMT (omitting the Skiba albums here) is mind-blowing, and I remember the day it leaked and we were all here listening, not expecting these 3 to bring stuff like this ever again.
Not to keep derailing the thread for Alk3 talk, but I've been on a huge kick ever since my show. Can't believe I've slept on them for so long. Time To Waste has literally been a daily listen.
