I know it's only 3 dates in but...I'm going tin-foil hat here - this tour feels off. The lack of hype/promotion leading into the shows is weird.. some of the shows have a good amount of non-resell tickets up for grabs. Tomorrow's show looks like around 25% of the seats are available. Tom not doing anything on social.. maybe he's going dry on this tour(?). Mark getting emo regarding people complaining about the setlists. Skiba not coming out for BTD and then cutting it out along with OMT and not replacing them in the set Could be nothing... but it just feels strange.
People are looking into it way too much. This tour is fine. This feels like a tour they’re just doing for themselves. Their stage banter is on point. I like how small the stage production is. Just let them have fun. They’re playing music and entertaining people. What more could you want? Don’t base everything off of social media.
it’s just a b-tour of cities they didn’t hit last year focused around their wwwy and other festival dates, nothing strange
Going to the show tomorrow and peeped at the setlist. It’s good but I don’t love their song selection from the new album tbh. Also would have loved to hear them play all three Anthems
I was wondering about the Tom thing on social, but I think he is just taking a social media break. He hasn't posted anything in a while, even before the tour and most is just To The Stars stuff, which I assume his team is posting those. I think the set list is just Mark overthinking things or maybe they had planned for Matt to sing BTD, but logistically it didn't work out. Who knows. I do have a feeling it will be quite on the Blink front after the tour until Tom gets done with all his movies/shows. He's obviously never been great on juggling multiple projects at once. Hopefully they've all agreed on what the priorities for next year are.
Maybe Tom is cutting down the pre-show cocktails for this run but I share your feeling on blink winding down for a while after this one. Go see them why you can folks... you never know.
I'll probably get shit on for even mentioning this in here but maybe Mark's book tour ruffled some feathers...I didn't love some of the press he did airing out the dirty laundry between the band and I could be mistaken but at one point he was being introduced as "the founder of blink-182"
Think I've posted this story here before but Tom & Chris Georggin came into my radio station for an interview during the 2011 tour. Was awesome - he spent like 30 minutes in the studio, took a picture with me, etc. but the only reason he did it was to play/promote the upcoming AVA single (Surrender) to our program director.
I was watching a video from the tour and I saw Mark blink in morse code "fuck Tom I'm done with this band"
They definitely deserve a long break/time off after this run of shows. Wasn’t Tom just talking about how he was early demoing new blink stuff? Definitely feel like he’s still in it but the reunion hype has died down and now they’re all getting into the groove of the blink ship. I don’t expect any new blink to touch my ears until 2027. OMT not being included anymore is weird, wonder why it was the first show only. Totally understand that this is a grittier tour and not wanting to play it, but why play it at all at first? Makes me wonder what’s going on with their setlist discussions (nothing bad obviously, but wondering how many versions there are). More Than You Know is probably my favorite on OMT so I kinda melted when they played that. Wouldn’t be upset if it switched out for Anthem 3 though. Glad Edging is gone and still loving Dance With Me in the set. Effing forgot for a second that I finally got to see Turpentine live. There’s just so much good content on their recent release!!
Mark was asked similar questions about if he thought writing a book and airing dirty laundry would effect his relationship with Tom and he stated numerous times that everything he wrote in the book he has said to Tom’s face so nothing was going to be a surprise to him if he even read the book and that he tried hard not to make Tom out to be a villain.
canNOT believe Online Songs is in this tour's set list so far, and also wish it was anywhere closer to me out here on the West. bah.
Haha yup. The band is literally playing 3 songs they haven’t played in 24 years and 2 songs they haven’t played in 11 years and people are worried Tom doesn’t want to be there anymore because they aren’t playing BTD with Skiba and got rid of playing OMT as an encore (which people complained about them closing with it at the last tour).
Interested to see what this is about. My buddy has some of their Dead & Co merch/collabs and loves the quality and designs.
