I remember downloading a bunch of punk rock videos from Kazaa (lol) and there was “Stupid Kid”. One of my favorite bands ever since, even though I never really got into anything they released after Crimson. “Blood, Hair and Eyeballs” fixed that!
I saw them once with NFG, STD and Face To Face but didn't follow up after that. Then after they opened for Sum 41 and blink before TOYPAJ came out, I bought Infirmary and that was that Even since blink and Trio have always been fighting for my number one
I think my first taste of Alkaline Trio was on the Another Year on the Streets compilation from Vagrant Records. Also my first time hearing The Get Up Kids, The Anniversary, and Saves the Day.
No better feeling than discovering a band that have been around forever and getting to deep dive and loving all of it. All of the people in here new/a couple of years into Trio, you're in for an absolute treat. Heaps to love. When My Shame Is True came out, a girl I was into at the time was hard into it and recommended it to me being the punk fun I was. I fell in love with them (and her) then, and I'm still in love with them now. Incredible band, and Skiba's hand in blink was the fit needed for those non-Tom years.
I interned there in 2004. Cool station but definitely was hurting from a business standpoint. They ran infomercials for 4-5 hours which stations only do when they are struggling to pay bills.
Doing a discog run before Friday. Thought just struck me on Untitled - it’s interesting that Go leads into Asthenia. Go is probably the closest to +44 & Asthenia is our first glimpse of what would become AVA.
Honda Civic Tour 2001 at the Worcester Palladium? Maybe my favorite blink show...seeing them in 2001 in a room that small with Sum41 and ALK3 opening. Pretty sure that was the show I got the Vagrant records sampler CD handed to me afterwards and found even more new great bands..
My favorite Blink show was seeing them at the 3500 capacity Roseland Ballroom with Silverchair opening. There was a guy in the crowd legit pissed that there were a lot of people wearing Abercrombie at the show.
I'm torn between avoiding setlists before the NH date, and aggressively following them to see what deep cuts are played beforehand. I have no willpower, so the latter will probably happen, haha. Might be cancelling our When We Were Young Trip, so most likely going to get a hotel nearby and take some time off of work.
the NH date is way too far from now for me to avoid setlist spoilers. so i'll be refreshing and watching setlist.fm like a hawk tonight haha.
I'm no longer able to see this tour proper (boo) but will be seeing Blink and Trio at Riot Fest. All to say - I have no problems looking at daily setlists this go around. Especially because Trio is going to play Maybe I'll Catch Fire.
Hell yeah. That Centrum show was my first concert ever, shout out to my dad for driving the 2hrs to take me and my buddies. Fenix TX & Bad Religion opened.
Haha yes my first one too. We went early without tickets on the off chance Fenix TX would be cool with us (my friend Hurley got to sing Rooster Song onstage with them at Webster last time they were on tour) and we chatted with Will for over an hour and their publicist gave us tickets. Met Mark when we left I've repeated this story lots so sorry if it's redundant to anyone lol
I started getting into AK3 after the first Atticus Dragging the Lake comp came out in 2002(?). Jaked on Green Beers was the first track from my recollection. Also got to interview Skiba on his bus at Warped Tour 2010 which launched fandom into over drive.... coincidently we did an interview with AVA on their bus that same day.
