Pretty crazy that in 2023 it’s Mark, not Tom, that’s holding the band back.

Early August seems likely. Maybe a video shoot next week and then an announcement shortly after.

I wouldn’t say Mark is holding the band back. He has been pretty clear that he doesn’t want to talk about the album until it’s officially rolling out. He’s always been blinks biggest fan, I have no doubt he’ll be screaming from the rooftops whenever they officially get things moving.

Blowing through neighborhoods this morning. Would be excited to hear a continuation of this record with more cohesion on the experimental songs. Would love to hear Mark's take on a Ghost on the Dancefloor song as an equal contributor to the song. The straightforward punk songs on this record are good but I think they are in a place where they could be truly incredible. Something that gives me a lot of hope for the record is Edging not being a song you can point to one single member as the driving force on it. It is a really nice mix of Travis's production style, Tom's current writing style, and Mark's killer storytelling in lyrics.

They should probably update the webstore listing for the vinyl:

"The new record from blink-182 available for pre-order now!

    Release date Spring/Summer 2023
    Limit 4 per customer"

  16. I wonder how many they've actually sold on there since they initially put it up.

He did not specify which October though, I believe.

Atom Willard interview clip. apparently he hates all pre self titled albums by blink, only liking self titled and forward. Also says he flat out told Tom if he hadn’t made self titled and then asked him to join AvA he’d have said no.

Yeah because playing lyrical masterpieces with Offspring like "Original Prankster" "Why Don't You Get a Job" and "Hit That" are soooo above early blink albums.

If he had said Dude Ranch onwards, I’d get it.

  23. I’m sure Atom was just the type of signed musician on his tour bus yelling at the clouds “This band isn’t punk. They’re just a bunch of sellouts!” just because they were suddenly making more money and getting more exposure than him. Which is fine. Haha. But if that’s the case, I’m glad he grew out of that mentality and actually gave Untitled a fair shot and an open mind.

I think it's fair to not like anything pre untitled, they were essentially a different band and I can see how those early albums would rub people the wrong way even though I love them.

I don't feel as strongly as Atom does, but if I had to choose to get the front or back half of the catalog I would 100% take Untitled on. I rarely play anything before Untitled front to back. The Coachella shows gave me a boost of love and admiration for the early stuff, but Untitled was what made Blink one of my all-time favorites.

I randomly met Atom at a show in Florida in 2012. He was super nice. I can't remember what band it was but we were both in the crowd and I said hello before the set started. It must have been Gaslight Anthem or City and Colour. Eddy Vetter joined Gaslight for a song and it was nuts.
