Nah, that's definitely a fair criticism. haha. I mostly love what Travis does, but there's definitely a few elements of "overplaying" on occasion. "Sober" is just one of my favorite instances of drumming in a style that isn't typical for pop punk that I think works really well. But there are some songs like "No Future" during the first verse where I have no idea what he's going for lol It's needlessly complicated just for the sake of it.

 

I love Travis despite his overplaying, I’ve come to accept it’s just his thing.

I’ve been drumming for over 30 years and I still can’t figure out some of the fills he throws down on No Heart To Speak Of.

 

I understand that critique. I love his playing on these but I miss how flawless the production was on the Jerry Finn albums. Best sounding snare on record. They sound “fatter” in the feldy era

 

A friend of mine told me today that the “dont you know?” In Edging makes them think of the mom in ‘Bobby’s world’ and now I can’t unhear it

I remember an episode where that narrator guy that showed up at the end of each episode said something like "hey, wanna see something cool?" He then said something like "i ate garlic or onions for lunch, smell." Then walked up to the lens and breathed on the screen. My sister and I smelt the tv screen and I swear to fucking god it smelt like onions.

 

I love this.
