Ed Sheeran was at the Hozier show the next night as well. Genuinely rocking out in the balcony

I have long believed that "Sober" is blink's lost classic hit. I think it was just a few years too early before the "pop punk revival" really took off and if it came out right now, it could actually be a legitimate mainstream hit. Same goes for "I Really Wish I Hated You" (but "Sober" is a way better song).

    I think that’s Darkside

  15. I love Blink's version, but I still stand by that "Sober" should have been given to a pop country artist. It would have been given the proper success it deserves. I don't think it would have done any better even if it was during the "pop punk revival." It's not really a pop punk song. I agree that "Darkside" would have been the better one for that scenario.

If we’re talking about songs that should have been huge: Here I Am Alive by Yellowcard

Yeah I firmly believe if Darkside was released before Blame It On My Youth it would have been a big hit. I feel like BIOMY sucked the momentum that the band had built with California since it got such a mixed reaction.

Imagining Sober as a pop-country tune makes me feel physically ill.

  19. it would have killed as a pop country song. it's 90% there already haha.

I could definitely see the chorus being worked into a pop-country song, but I've never heard a country song use a DnB pattern like Travis does in the verses haha.

Well yeah I would assume being reworked into a country song would mean your drumming isn't done by a pop punk/hip hop style drummer lol

But my point is you can't remove the best aspect of the song :)

Haha this might get me cancelled but I said it here before I think: I think Travis's drumming on the Skiba era albums is my least favorite drumming efforts he's done for Blink. It just felt like "too much" for me a lot of times. I always loved the balance he found pre-Skiba era between going nuts and keeping it simple. I assume it was a specific style choice he made, it just wasn't for me I suppose. I preferred his drumming on the MGK and Willow singles bloody valentine and....transparent soul?) more tbh.
