Wouldn't be blink if there wasn't some kind of drama related to release schedules and album drops in conjunction to tour dates. If there is a banger single that gets made as a buzzer beater I am cool. If we get an announcement that they aren't finished by the start of the tour and there's a huge delay I'd be bummed.

 

Yeah if the album isn’t done by now or before the tour starts, we won’t get it until next year, which would be a ginormous L for the band, honestly. Especially with having such a popular single out. So yeah, rehearsals are going on now, tour starts mid March. That shit’s gotta be turned by beginning of March at the latest for the album to come out while they’re on tour. I don’t see the album dropping before March, unless they do a surprise drop, which I don’t expect.

 

Mark mentioned today a couple of his basses that are coming on tour with him are still at Travis’ studio, so it would appear they’re definitely still tracking.

Mark also mentioned no plans for any Meet & Greets post-COVID/post-cancer.

Completely understandable, but definitely going to be hard to meet the dudes if you haven’t before.

Is something delayed if it’s never had a release date? I ask this every time I see “Apple delays product X that doesn’t exist yet”.

 

They did take preorders for a spring/summer 2023 release

fast forward….on this date in 2026, Blink182 announce that they have again parted ways with Tom Delonge…again.

 

I mean seemingly they've been working on this album for like 6 months. I don't see how it won't be done when they said it had to be turned in by. At worst they're just working on stuff that they won't manage to get on the album by turn in date

I hate the loudness wars ruined the sound of so many albums in that era. RHCP albums in that era sound terrible for that same reason. Weirdly enough, I don't notice it much with this album.

It was mainly an 80's/90's trend that boiled down to albums being compressed to hell and an obsession with making everything louder, ruining the dynamics of many albums. Here's a YouTube video that is the clearest explanation I've ever found about the loudness wars. Short and to the point. I also included a detailed blog post about all of Californication's issues. I have the unmastered version, and while it's not perfect, it's so much better than the retail copies.
