I love Not Another Christmas Song. It's basically the only song from the Skiba era that has an actual guitar riff.

 

I think I would like Not Another Christmas song more if the line was “let’s get divorced from Christmas” instead of “let’s get divorced for Christmas”.

 

So Aaron said they are using Fractal Axe FX III on the album. I have no idea what that means but the reddit commenters say it'll sound like every other mgk style pop punk

 

It's essentially a massive effects pedal emulator that can create an endless combination of tones. Those redditers are being jackasses.

 

They can essentially mimic the exact guitar tones as Enema or TOYPAJ with that contraption. Basically, any tone they want.

 

Yeah the AxeFX is a very expensive, high-end digital modeler that's designed to emulate several dozen vintage tube amps. While digital modeling technology may have sounded inauthentic 10-20 years ago, the newest revisions/firmware of the Kemper & AxeFX are nearly indistinguishable from "real" amps.

Plus, the amp source tone impacts a mix far less than the Cabinet/Mic set-up & post-eq/compression, but don't tell the guitar nerds that

 

Lol just cause he uses a modelling amp like a Fractal or Kemper, doesn't mean it'll sound like MGK. The last AVA album was most likely recorded with his Fractal and it sounds great.

From a tangible standpoint, this means Tom's guitar tone is going to sound awesome live compared to his last stint in blink when he was bypassing the pre-amp and DI'ing straight to front of house.

 

For real, if you can tell me there's a meaningful difference in either of these comparisons, you have a better ear than me.

I sold most of my pedals and amps (was a bit of a hoarder) and got a Helix. Thing absolutely rules. I love the future.

What do you think the average age of the /Blink182 subreddit is? Everytime I go in there I literally regret it within 15 seconds. It's badddddd.

 

I think it's less an age thing and more a culture thing. Reddit is a pit of negativity pretty much anywhere you look. Every time I join a subreddit about something I like, I leave days later. It's just people complaining about things they supposedly like.

 

Amp and pedal modeling has come a loooong way in the past 10-15 years. It's getting to the point now where you can't really tell the difference between a modeled amp and the real thing. I'm here for it.

 

I did the sane thing. I gave 5 more pedals I'm trying to get rid of and that's it .. helix all day

 

This is why I only stick to cats, home repair questions, fantasy football questions, and the occasional creepy true crime story Reddits

 

I love Reddit but yes the music subreddits are usually pretty bad. Every band or genre subreddit is basically an even worse version of Chorus’s The 1975 thread where all anyone does is talk about how much they hate the band they like.

 

Had to cleanse myself of all music subreddits on my feed. Its an endless cycle of bracket tournaments 24/7/365 or hot takes that aren't actually hot. Drives me mad hahaha
