I'd like a s/t balance....A few dual vocal songs, but not always completely split (ala Stockholm Syndrome, where its like 80% mark and 20% tom), and a few songs where it's just them. IIRC, S/t has like...what...4 just tom songs and 3 just mark songs? That sounds okay to me on an album that's gonna be 12-15 songs. Maybe a little less just one singer songs, more 80/20 songs.

Love that Edging didn't diverge from the Skiba era vocal sharing. Not that they never did it before him of course. But more please

 

Yeah, this is what I had in mind. Solo songs aren't inherently good or bad and neither are split songs... but I just don't want it to be formulaic however they decide to go about it. Untitled and Neighborhoods were pretty good about keeping you guessing and mixing it up, but Neighborhoods/DED didn't have nearly enough Mark Hoppus.

 

Edging is a perfect back-and-forth song. Tom's angsty parts, Mark's narrative storytelling, and a great mix of back and forth in the chorus. Hasn't been that synchronous since Untitled.

Also Edging at #1 Alt Radio for 7 weeks. Pretty radical to see all the love. I have heard it in restaurants and stores a couple of times.

 

Yeah.. according to this https://www.billboard.com/artist/blink-182/chart-history/ark/ , Edging is now at 8 weeks at #1, matching All The Small Things for the most weeks at #1 (on this chart).

But then you look at the Billboard Hot 100 and ATST peaked at #6, with 23 weeks on the chart, and Edging peaked at #61, with 1 week on the chart.

 

Those charts are fun to look at. I know "Edging" was only up on the Hot 100 for one week, but it's still pretty impressive that it was their fourth highest position ever on that chart behind "All The Small Things", "I Miss You" and "What's My Age Again?" (which were on the chart for like five months haha).

Ignoring his usual hype, but it's nice to know they've got another single decided on.

a band hypes the next project up and it only disappointments the fans once it’s out?

a band describes a new song or album a certain way and it ends up being nothing close what was described?

 

He just can't help himself.

He usually hypes what he is most passionate about and lucky for us it genuinely seems to be Blink. Angels and Airwaves seemed to mean a lot to him touring for the first time in years. It is cool that he is taking that energy/hype and pouring it into Blink. I am skeptical that his hype will stick around after a relentless world tour but I am very hopeful this album is going to crush.

 

Second one is the worst.

If a band is quietly working and then surprises you, you at least don't have any expectations affecting your view of it even if you don't end up enjoying it.

For the last point - I tend to take the artist's description of new music with a grain of salt because music is kind of hard to describe anyway. Describing something as the "most" heavy/progressive/mature/etc. is too subjective to take someone else's word for it. There's also only so many ways you can say "It's kind of like our old stuff but moves into some new territory".

 

Where is the PRESS though? Want the interviews, BTS, and lore around the reuniting of everyone (and maybe one spicy skiba question even though it is agreed on by all parties involved that there's no beef) Instagram stories and small teases have been cool, but I love the big write-ups, interviews, and long podcasts.
