I love the production on Edging. Blink has always been polished and poppy in production. Have you heard the isolated vocals on All The Small Things?

Blink is best when their music is a cohesive push and pull from all members. It has the simple nod to classic punk in the song structure (Tom went hard for this on Lifeforms) Great storytelling in the lyrics (Mark is second to none in this area) and it's cool that the drums are simple and Travis's strengths are on display in the modern production. It feels like modern blink with each member contributing their strengths. I am optimistic and it makes me really excited that they are teasing this single to not necessarily be an indicator of the tone of the album.

The only part that irks me is the "What'cha say, wanna play" but honestly blink isn't blink without some notable cringe lyrics.

I still think the music video for edging should’ve been an idle main menu screen for a mid 2000s baseball video game.

 

Here in the UK we get an annual Christmas advert from John Lewis, a department store on TV. They usually have covers of well known famous songs, in the past they've used Elton John, REO Speedwagon, Oasis. This year's uses Blink! Feels like a pretty big deal.

 

Yeah, this might sound minor to anyone not from here, but this is a huge deal in the UK. For many people, the launch of the John Lewis Christmas advert is one of their highlights of the year.

This is probably a very unpopular opinion in the blink multiverse, but I’ve never been a fan of that guitar. Always found it to be pretty ugly

Its definitely nice to see Tom kept at least one in its original state instead of painting and burning it.
