Could be that we’re all just way too tuned in to what the band is up to, but I learned virtually nothing new from the book and all the subsequent interviews lol

This is a damn fine cup of coffee.

I enjoyed some of Mark's other interviews for the mere fact that people actually asked him questions. Toby basically recited the notes he took while the reading the book, but he forgot to turn those notes into questions.

No new info, no real 'in-depth' questions from Toby, and mainly just him confirming things we already know/knew.

But I loved every fucking second of it. While Toby might not give the best interviews, the dude is pure, passionate and you can tell has a good heart, and Mark's just Mark. He's a global treasure and we all know it.

Yeah, I get that he’s passionate and all but interviewing someone for 3.5 hours and not getting more than a sentence of news out of it is wild.

Mark is on a book marketing tour to sell his book. This podcast has tons of new info for people who haven't read book and watched every single interview Mark has given in the past month.

It was never billed as some huge tell all, lots of hidden stories interview, it was simply another stop on Mark's publicity tour and fans saw the length and assumed what they wanted out of it.

If an interviewer doesn’t ask a single unique question in 3.5 hours, I’d argue they’re terrible at what they do.

I mean we've never heard if Mark knows what ChatGPT is.

The podcast he did with Seth and Josh Meyers was super fun and toed the line between promoting the book and showing off different parts of his life and personality. This was just Toby doing a book report back to Mark. I thought his interview with Tom was actually quite good in getting Tom to talk about stuff we'd never heard before, but this one was not great.

Makes total sense re: book tour/promotion. I was wondering why I had kept seeing new article after new article of Mark's book and, yeah, he's going to want to take every opportunity to make sure that thing is as well-known as possible.

blink will start to get interesting again towards these slew of shows in September/October. I'm going to the first show on August 28 and so excited to not have any setlists or expectations spoiled for me. There's hopes surrounding both Trio and blink debuting new songs but I'm not getting my hopes up. I fully think we could expect a new album by late 2026/early 2027 with next year focusing on creating new stuff.

  12. I won't be shocked if there's a new Blink song featuring Skiba before their tour.

    Ronstile.

That would be peak stuff. Can’t Go Back was such a treat to see live before the release. Blink has had such a history of promising big things and then them taking forever to actually happen. I would be so psyched if they just dropped a heater featuring all three dudes having singing parts before the tour. Really hoping there’s a Skiba Medley on this run of shows. I think the Travis EP is going to be killer. The last two albums have been incredible from AK3 would be awesome to hear a couple throwback tracks that lean heavy on the pop melodies but have the classic dark lyrics.

    I have a 5 hour drive on Thursday and Sunday so I'm definitely queueing Tobey+Mark up. I don't care if it's a Fahrenheit-182 re-hash.

Yeah, that's my biggest gripe. Everything we got could've been a 45 minute talk between the dudes.

I'll take Toby and Mark talking Descendents love over any Italia "maybe" posts though.

for anyone psyched on the new turnstile record they just did a zane lowe interview and the first 10 or so minutes is them reflecting on the blink tour.

It’s cool to be at a show in question that they remember. It was St. Paul and Tom’s first non-Coachella show back. It was also Turnstile’s first show with their new guitarist Meg Mills so they talk about the pressure of having your first show be in a sold out arena lol

So Travis is producing new Trio? Was Toby not supposed to say that?

Yes and meh, who cares. People knew he was doing the Yellowcard album for months because both his camp and theirs were posting about stuff. Same thing here.

Can someone explain to me why the blink subreddit is acting like the fact Travis is producing the new Alkaline Trio album is a major tragedy? You’d legit think someone died. What am I missing?

People think Travis' production is bad and then once they see a negative opinion gain traction they just pile on because it feels good to be a negative nerd than actually think for yourself and listen with your ears.
