Mark’s team must have asked all the interviewers to ask about book anecdotes because it’s in every interview and they all seem pretty forced. V funny when toby does it tho because he finishes every definitive statement with “right?” just like my 5 year old.

  2. "And then you went on a date with Melissa Joan Hart right?"
    "Yup!"
    "That's craaaaazy bro!"

Fortunately, it does start to get a little less cringy about half way through the episode. Or maybe I'm just used to it now.

He just dropped a "fuuuuuck man" and a "damnnnnn" back to back and I laughed out loud.

  4. This is a highlight:

    Mark: You've never gotten scoped?!
Toby: Only in the butt from a colonoscopy.
Mark: Yeah, but that's just fun! That's elective. I do that electively every 6 weeks!

People give Toby shit, but he is such a pure dude I love it. Also he has a way of hitting the entire career of an artist that is unmatched. I listened on my run this AM. I am on the beginning of +44. I hope we get a Skiba era deep dive. Mark has yet to do any extended takes on OMT too. Wild how long this one is. I love it.

I want to hear more about his time as the host of A Different Spin and what he really thought of Amy Schumer. She was not funny on that show haha.

  7. Mark wouldn't say anything bad about her on an interview. But yeah, I've never really been a fan of her...

There are no deep dives on anything, sadly.

  9. Talking about Travis' production work, Toby mentions "he just did Trio." I don't think if it's been confirmed if it was for Alkaline Trio or something else, but sounds like it was for them, so that's cool.

Him pushing snake oil green slime on Mark was a little cringy.

    Are You Watching Closely?

It's small, but I thought it was cool he said that him and Tom shared a bus for a leg of a tour recently. The fact they can easily afford their own but still chose to ride together, even if for a bit, is awesome all things considered

  18. after finishing the podcast, it was pretty much a complete waste of 3.5 hours for me.

i've read the book, went to his book tour event, and watched a few promo interviews he's done, so this was just another one of those, but way longer than it needed to be. it was more annoying than anything.

This is a damn fine cup of coffee.

Mark's podcast with Toby is basically a reboot of The Chris Farley Show sketch on SNL.

For me, this has been my favorite of the book tour press but it’s all been pretty copy paste across the board. I suppose the press is to encourage people to pick up the book and we’re all the psychos that went to book stores a week or two early and asked staff to dig a copy out of boxes. I enjoyed it though. The extra anecdotes in this one were better than other interviews.

Bummed aside from the Zane Lowe interview we haven’t gotten a track by track deep dive from Mark and, at this point, probably never will.

I knew I could get all I needed to know from this chorus thread.

I just don't think I can sit through nearly 4 hours of Toby just to hear Mark talk about things most already know..

"You remember when you were in blink and you did that album take off your pants and jacket and at the very end there's that bonus song that goes 'he wants to fuck a dog in the ass.'

    Remember that? Is that true?"

  24. that's so on point though, which sucks hahaha

"Now for some nerdy questions... Is it true that you didn't use a click track on Feeling This?"
    "No"
    "REALLY?!"
"Is it true that you used a fretless bass on Always?"
    "No"
"WHAT?!?! The internet is crazyyyy bro!"

Yeah Toby seems like such a good soul, but it did seem very much like him repeating back to Mark his own memoir lol
