  1. Pretty sure they kept the double busses and all their crew, for way smaller venues.

I’m pretty sure it’s been talked about in interviews about how Mark wanted to make Enema Part 3 while Tom and Travis wanted to make songs more like BCR. Tom and Travis convinced Mark that was the way to go and once he heard the songs they were making he realized it was the right direction.

I think I’ve listened to California deluxe 10 times or less. I played Parking Lot a ton when it came out as the single for the release. The longer OMT pt 2 is out it is dangerously close to being a better release than Neighborhoods to me. (Love neighborhoods for what it is, but this era is so good) It’s so tight and it holds everything rad about OMT while adding in some elements that genuinely makes me believe they have a follow up that will be another release as big as untitled was in its own way.

One More Time came out and I'm like "I didn't think I could love this band any more than I actually do. I'm so thankful to be alive at the same time as this."

Neighborhoods/Dogs Eating Dogs has some salvageable tracks, but after OMT demonstrated how cohesive they can still sound when they are all on the same page, it kind of lost any magic it had being the “reunion” album. That era is definitely my least re-visited outside of Buddha/Cheshire Cat. I easily prefer the Skiba albums over it.

Yeah, this memoir has made me revisit the first reunion releases, and it's just a weird vibe. Not even the music itself, but the album and EP instantly remind me how all of those years we could all just feel something was off between them. What a weird time.

Welp I guess I am rolling through OMT 1&2 this morning. I think Anthem 3 is about as perfect as it gets as a thesis statement for Blink. The opening riff. Tom’s boundless optimism, Mark’s outrageously dark verse, the outro. Hadn’t felt this way since early AVA on the first listen.

I agree with Mark Can’t Go Back is one of the best Blink songs in a minute. It’s got the main guitar riff that gives boxcar vibes, the rhythm guitar part has the fluttery Ava sounds, Travis with a killer drum part, very sing along-y chorus, amazing vocal trade offs. Chef’s kiss. It was a highlight to see live and is a representation of Tom’s bit that there isn’t such a need for a bunch of side projects because it can all live on blink releases.

Tom didn’t even want to be there.

    Are You Watching Closely?

Yeah, and half of those tours were opener slots at those venues. I can see now why it was (sadly) a one album project.

The book is so good, man. I get so emotional and nostalgic reading it. It’s like…it’s not my life, but my growing up was so concurrent and connected to mark’s.

“Ghost on the Dance Floor”, “Natives”, “Wishing Well”, and “MH 4.18.2011” are the only songs I revisit from that era. Everything about that time was just too weird…from the way Neighborhoods was recorded separately to the oddball release of it.

It's funny to hear about how the record label heard the initial TOYPAJ and sent the band back because there was no clear single.......and yet, no one at Interscope had those kind of notes when they heard Neighborhoods?? Not that its THAT bad of an album. But you figure when the multi-platinum Top 40 rock act is reuniting the label would've been expecting/pushing for that Bored To Death type song.

It wasn’t the label it was Rick Devoe that said TOYPAJ was missing the feel good summer vibe blink singles.

  17. Blink-182's Mark Hoppus Says His Memoir Doesn't Make Tom DeLonge Out to Be a 'Villain': 'He's My Best Friend' (Exclusive)
HOPPUS: Not yet, but we are about to. literally found out by Tom doing an interview with our friend Toby Morse from H2O, saying that we were going to start demoing songs this summer. So I was like, “Oh, okay. Cool. Guess I'm writing a new album this summer. Great. Can't wait.”

PEOPLE: Is the tour name an album title you're considering?

HOPPUS: I don't think so. It’s a great tour name and really clever and funny, but we haven't even started to come up with a great title for the next record yet. I keep wanting to call an album Pretty Nuts.

PEOPLE: Do you have any plans to write another book at any point?

HOPPUS: People want another book. My publishers asked for what ideas I have for a second book, and I love writing and the process. I don't know what it would be about, maybe more stories or maybe other memories or things that didn't make the book. But yeah, I would love to write more books. It's cathartic, it's fun, it's different, and I get a lot of the same joy from creating a book as I do from writing an album.

I know Mark has struggles in the past with writing in general (writers block for song lyrics), so I'm wondering if writing this book helped alleviate that at all or at least helped to open up his thinking and just letting words flow.

I don't think I've ever seen this much of the original video

Marks original idea was really cool that was a fun thing to learn from the memoir.

Just started the book. Already piecing together the story references that led to lyrics in “Go” which give me such a better appreciation for the song. I had known it was about marks mom, but didn’t know details.

Cliff Diving also just was referenced. Can already tell I won’t be able to put this book down.

EDIT: and immediately after comes the story behind Fighting the Gravity!
