Feel this way about OMT too. it being 1 year + now and it’s not just the shock and relief has worn off it’s just a really fucking good blink record that spans the discography as a celebration like mark says. It’s way up there for me. Some of the elements in pt 2 really give me permission they have another record in the spirit of untitled in them. Not necessarily the same sound, but the same reinvention, innovation, and boundary pushing.

  3. I'm really looking forward to their next album, which will hopefully be titled "LOL JK."

I didn't care to read about Simple Creatures lol

I think the only part in the whole book that I didn't like was the Fighting The Gravity references to his acid trip lol. Felt too forced. But the background for Go was good

I liked simple creatures for what it was. Would have liked more music from them there’s a couple bangers. Mark’s Bridge on Lucy is killer. I am hot on Mark reviving +44 with Matt. It will never happen but an album with Mark and Matt not doing the blink thing and leaning more into their darker more intense impulses would be very neat IMO.

I liked the memoir but wouldn’t be mad if Mark (or both him and Tom) put out a book of collected lyrics throughout their career where they went deep talking about the writing and recording. Obviously the singles would be included probably and they’ve talked about them plenty but a collection of his and Tom’s lyrics with commentary and stories could look something like

    Carousel
    M&Ms
    Strings
    Peggy Sue
    Pathetic
    Dammit
    Dick Lips
    Untitled
    Apple Shampoo
    Going Away to College
    WMAA
Adam’s Song (I liked what he wrote about it in the book)
    All the Small Things
Man Overboard (maybe an awkward one)
    Anthem Pt. II
    Stay Together for the Kids
    Reckless Abandon
    Everytime I Look for You
    Feeling This
    I Miss You
    Stockholm Syndrome
    All of This
    Not Now
    Ghost on the Dancefloor
    After Midnight
    Cynical
    Bored to Death
Home is Such a Lonely Place
    San Diego
    Heaven
    Darkside
    Remember to Forget Me
    Anthem Pt. III
    One More Time

Throw in some side project tracks (I’m particularly interested in the BCR/+44 lyrics maybe a little moreso than AVA or SC) and go heavy on Jerry Finn stories and it’d be a book made perfectly just for me

Eh. I mean it was such a short time in his life what could he really say about it that’s meaningful. And I’m not sure how it would really fit in without interrupting the flow of the book.

  10. Totally my thought too. I wanted stuff about like deep cuts. Give me how you came up with Don’t Leave Me! I need the East Target story.

I wanna hear how it was recorded. What came first? When did everyone decide Mutt wasn’t the single?

I’m assuming you heard of the Easy Target story but in case you didn’t or anyone else didn’t but it happened to Jerry Finn. A popular girl who Jerry liked in school named Holly invited him over to her house and when he got there her and a bunch of her friends, I believe, threw water balloons and sprayed him with water and laughed at him. Hence the lyrics “Holly’s looking dry, looking for an easy target”. And why they sing about Holly in All of This “use me Holly come on and use me”.

But yes a book on the back stories behind their songs would be amazing. Never knew Tom wrote Marlboro Man was about Mark because he smoked.

Paul McCartney came out with a massive 2 book boxset where he went into deep dives of the backstory and lyrical meaning of every song he ever wrote. At least I think it was every song.

I would LOVE for Blink to do something similar.

Can’t wait to read Mark’s book. Dude is doing so much press for it and I’m loving every second of it. So many little tidbits that I’ve never heard about. It’s so awesome.
