Can't wait to read it that seems like the biggest point of contention. His tone is throwing people off which is the most mark shit ever. The Robert smith thing is another example.

  2. listening to him reading the audiobook really helps with hearing his tone in all those stories.

I'm torn between wanting to read it myself vs. the audiobook. Might be a scenario where I do both and save the audio book for a road trip or something.

Just finished reading the book. Perfect. No notes. Got tears in my eyes a few times, especially when Tom finds out about his cancer. Really hope we get a sequel one day.

Now we just need Tom’s autobiography.

Would love that too but I have this nagging belief he has an NDA that won't let him discuss certain blink things.

I think a huge chunk of the problem is that people are hyper-defensive of Tom (not sure why I'm still surprised by that). Every thing that is even a perceived criticism is something they feel the need to stick up for and everything always comes back around to Tom being flawless.

Perfect example - that thread we just discussed is accusing Mark of not taking enough accountability and telling stories with a skew in his own favor. Then if you scroll down for two seconds, there's another thread claiming Mark basically owned up to being the cause of both breakups because he "pushed Tom out". You can't make this stuff up. Two opposite points but both still coming to the conclusion that Tom = good, Mark = bad.

Mark’s only flaw is 90 minute sets

Omt pt. 2 RIPS. Still feels brand new because I don't find myself listening a ton.

Bought a pit ticket to Indianapolis! I'm gonna be going to to Louder Than Life festival with some friends, so I'm planning to hit up the show on the drive down. Hopefully I can convince them to come with, but I can also bus the rest of the way to Louisville lol.

Mark's press tour for his book is literally 20 times better than blink promoting Nine

Totally normal post from blink Reddit:

“Tom is the odd one out

So, given all of blink’s history, and their recent reunion and tour, it seems to me that Tom is the odd one out on most things they do. Forgive me if I sound dumb but I’m just thinking aloud.

It seems like he is doing blink again because he does like the music and does enjoy the band but he’s outvoted by Mark and Travis on almost everything and it’s why he left so many times.
I’ve read how he doesn’t like playing the singles so much but Mark and Travis want to. So they do.
Tom wants the band to explore more genres and have a more positive message to spread to the world. Mark and Travis want to keep blink as it is and keep the brand going.
Tom enjoyed writing songs with Mark and Travis and not using outside songwriters. But again, Mark and Travis are in that habit now and Tom goes with it.
He drinks before shows and I get that it makes Mark and Travis mad but if Tom is miserable, he’s probably coping. And I’m not convinced he isn’t just doing this for money and to hopefully use his platform to achieve his real goals (UFO stuff, bettering mankind, etc) but I’m not denying he might still enjoy being in blink. In the past, I always read interviews that talked about he would show up early to the studio and spend longer there than Mark or Travis (namely for the Dogs Eating Dogs EP) and he felt disheartened when he realized that he was putting forth a lot more effort than they were, which led to him losing interest in the creative side of blink.

All of this to say, I feel kind of bad for the guy. If he left again, everyone would blame him again but if he stays together for the kids, he can’t be as creative as he wants and he can’t work on his other projects. Mark and Travis once presented him a contract that said he could not work on any other outside projects besides blink until a certain album was done and then gave an absurdly small window to make said album.

Maybe I am wrong but the older I get, the more I dislike Mark and Travis. They both present as being the reasonable ones and Tom is just crazy but they’ve talked more shade about Tom in the press than Tom ever did about them. So their side of things tends to be the official version. It just seems like as I get older, the more I see through this “kind and reasonable” front that Mark and Travis have and I feel bad for Tom overall.

That being said, they are coming to my city this year and I still want to see them. These are just thoughts I’ve had. And, I mean, I don’t know any of these guys personally so all of us could be wrong about everything we think we know about them anyway.

Edit: I am now reminded why I don’t spend time messing with this subreddit.”

In Mark’s book he talks about how Nine was meant to be the cross over hit from alternative hits to pop hits. That’s new news.

Okay, finished the book. Well written and I appreciated some interesting tidbits on his life growing up, the Pop Disaster Tour and his cancer journey immensely.

Not pitting them up against each other but Travis’ book beats this by a mile.

This seemed obvious to me given the final product, but cool to see he actually acknowledges it

These are the kinds of unhinged pro-Tom posts I’m talking about. Insane mental gymnastics and logical leaps to defend every move he makes and absolve him of any culpability.

My favorite part: “Mark and Travis once presented him a contract that said he could not work on any other outside projects besides blink until a certain album was done and then gave an absurdly small window to make said album.”

Gee, almost like they were trying to make it quickly to accommodate his schedule?

The worst part for me was that he drinks to “cope” because he is really secretly “miserable”

Still think they should have kept the Miley version of I Really Wish I Hated You.
