Finished the book. Sad it’s over! I want more. Essential reading for any fan.

One of these days my favorite band will finally release a shirt I'd actually want to wear.

 

I like the green crew neck. They must be acknowledging the 30 year anniversary of Cheshire Cat too, which is cool.

Facebook (being used only for birthday reminders and memories at this point) reminded me that 10 years ago I got backstage at a festival and spent the night getting into shenanigans with Fat Mike... all thanks to my 'Who the F*ck is Matt Skiba' shirt. His gf at the time saw me wearing it and brought Mike over and he couldn't stop laughing. Took a picture of me/the shirt and sent it to Matt. We proceeded to party on his bus. Even got to watch he and Noodles from the Offspring get into a heated argument about who cheats more.

 

Really digging the way he writes song ideas and stories into the book without bashing you over the head with it. Feels like easter eggs.

 

Just came across the book out in the wild. It’s bigger than I thought it’d be! That’s what I said.

Can’t wait for the audiobook next week!

I don't think I've ever read through 400 pages so quickly. For as long as it was, I feel it could have been double the length!

 

Is there much discussion of the peak commercial era? That was something I've found wanting from a couple of autobiographies I've read, plenty of detail given to the early struggles but not much on the stardom excitement.

 

yes. In fact, a good majority of the book hovers around 1997 - 2003 or so, and all of the fun (and then eventually sad / angry) moments that made up those years. I didn’t want to spoil much for other people in the thread but if anything, he could have added another 100 pages for the Skiba years and Tom joining again for OMT. It basically ends with his experiences of cancer. Like I said, he needs to do a sequel!
