What Tom Delonge solo record? Never heard of it

 

To be fair, they were more so a compilation of demos than an actual solo record

There were some pretty good ideas on it. I think it is better that he released it than not having released it at all

I bet if he would have waited to release them after getting back together with Blink, the songs would be looked at in a more positive light

 

Endless Summer is the only decent song on there and people overrate the crap out of that one

 

Suburban Kings is good

 

That one could have been a decent blink song… and by “decent” I mean still probably not as good as any song on OMT 1+2

 

lol i did play a couple of songs. it unfortunately stinks and was so reactive to the blink drama. love to have a release with tom and brooks though and i do unfortunately love the joke songs.

 

I’d rather have a couple of AVA songs redone with the blink boys than having those Tom demos turned into something blink. Mercenaries could’ve been actually nuts with Mark and Travis’ input. A couple of Lifeforms songs were getting there, too.

I really want them to go live in a house together for the next record.

 

Lifeforms and The Dream Walker have some really great songs. The Tom solo album has an acoustic song that sometimes pops up in my Spotify and I don’t dislike it, but the rest of it I think is completely forgettable.

 

He only put that album together at the absolute last minute to ride the press of him leaving blink the second time. A lot of “well these could have been blink songs, but they don’t want to compromise so I left again.”

 

The only real good song on there is “endless summer.” At least if you cut off the nonsensical intro.

 

I consider everything from Love - odds and ends to be pretty tired from Tom with some killer songs sprinkled throughout (neighborhooods included, but with the whole blink crew there’s always some magic to be found). Lifeforms was the first album from Tom that I felt like he was back and genuinely excited to be making and performing music again and that went through the roof on OMT.

 

Also Toby from H2O teased he secured an interview from Tom. He’s one of my favorite podcast hosts because he gets the best conversations that feel like old friends talking vs musicians promoting whatever their newest thing is hitting the classic talking points.

The Travis interview is second to none and Tim Armstrong’s is also very good.

This is a shower thought slash something that should maybe go in the “tiny things that annoy you” thread, but I was thinking if you were talking to someone, really hitting it off, and then they spell “dammit” as “damnit”, that would be a bummer cuz that means they aren’t a huge Blink fan.

Anyway, I’m tired and a little under the influence. Carry on.
