I actually have never listened to Room’s Too Cold in full. Just not my thing.

 

I love this

 

I feel like it’s one of those, “you had to be there,” albums. It certainly doesn’t sound timeless like some of the other albums on that list.. it lives in 2003.

My dad and I were in Des Moines on a road trip today, and we decided to check out a guitar shop before we left. I saw one of Tom's signature strats and immediately grabbed it and could not put the thing down. My dad and I talk a lot about music and gear, so he knew how long I've wanted one.

Anyways, I was getting ready to put the guitar away and leave when my dad told the cashier out of nowhere "yeah, we're gonna buy it" Apparently he and my mom had been planning this as a birthday/christmas present, but I was so surprised I almost cried.

This is crazy.... I love all these albums. (Never listening to Dookie is a crime, most of this stuff might not exist without Dookie.) I agree, Room's Too Cold is pure nostalgia, I revisit it and love it but not sure it's as "gettable" without the context of the scene.
