Not only blink related, but it feels crazy that I’m listening non stop to new music by blink 182, sum 41, green day, mxpx, taking back sunday or alkaline trio in 2023 and loving it all.

Pretty lame Travis is selling that stuff but hey, if the demand is there more power to him.

Played the Skiba records for the first time since OMT last night. I was a little concerned the records would feel less enjoyable after this monumental release, but the opposite is true. Without all of the pressure of those records being to most recent releases, I think they get to just exist as a unique season in the Blink timeline. There's a nice little trilogy of musical progression from California to OMT. There are plenty of familiar sounds on OMT that feel like a triumphant conclusion to that era and also kicking the door down on a new era.

One of the best parts of the last couple of months before OMT was fully accepting NINE for what it is as an album and genuinely enjoying a front-to-back play-through. I think after all of this time I rank it higher than California (and probably Neighborhoods / DED too.) Definitely would not have been the case 6 months ago.

If you haven't done California NINE OMT I highly recommend it. Fun ride. All of it is better now that we are fully into a new era of blink and there is no constant questioning of if Tom will come back and if it would be rad.

    Die rad.

Honestly, Nine is really good. There are so many great gems on that. Much better than California.

  18. I was a Nine lover from the get-go. I even loved "Blame It On My Youth" when they released that. I think there are so many great jams on that album. No Heart, Pin The Grenade, Heaven, Black Rain... all bangers.

“hot take” OMT sounds more like California and Nine than it does any of their other records

Always liked NINE butt struggled with it as a cohesive record. For whatever reason it clicked a few months back and now I really enjoy the whole thing. I agree there's more in common with California than NINE on OMT but you can hear plenty of both on OMT. Fell In Love could be dropped in the middle of NINE without skipping a beat. Skiba brought some of the killer shouty parts on NINE that Tom let loose on during Terrified and Turpentine.

My favorite part of NINE was Travis's little additions to the production. Lots of cool beats and 808's. On OMT he pulled back on flashy/complex drum parts and seemed to lean into the classic straightforward pop-punk rad parts Feldman brought to the California Production. Fun to go back and listen to those albums with OMT out and not brand new.
