Before we all experience the Dance With Me release tomorrow, I wanted to share a story about what One More Time means to me and the events surrounding the release.

Back in early September, my brother was critically injured in a work accident, where he was struck by a car. For the next two weeks, there were glimpses of hope, quickly dashed with complications. He took a turn for the worst and we were informed he would never be himself again. I flew back to my hometown to be there for my sisters and extended family. I said goodbye and held his hand as he took his final breaths. In his final act of kindness, his organ donations saved three people's lives. This tragedy has brought my siblings and I closer again, and I'm so grateful that it's happening. There wasn't bad blood, just distance and time.

Needless to say, the significance of that song being released on that day is something I'll never forget. I know they wrote it about their relationship as bandmates, but the meaning was so appropriate for me and my brother. We hadn't seen each other in eight years, and hadn't spoken in three. I think we both regretted never having a brotherly bond, but that was due to circumstances outside our control. We tried as adults. He met my husband when we visited my hometown in 2015 (also last time i saw him), and I'm so thankful for those memories. The strangers-brothers-strangers analogy was what we lived through. The pre-chorus and third verse also hit heavy for me. Despite our distance, we did love and care about one another. I bawled my eyes out in the lobby of the Holiday Inn we were staying at when I listened to OMT for the first time. I also had work stress to deal with on one of the most inappropriate days for that kind of worry, but found the strength to get through the day and the evening before saying goodbye.

I was at peace when it was over. I knew he wasn't suffering anymore and I took comfort in that. I've become too familiar with death lately. In 14 months, we lost our oldest son, my brother, and 2 dogs. I actually had one of the best summers of the past couple years, and I'd worked so hard to get back to a place of happiness again, and now this. The impending early PNW sunsets won't be doing me any favors, but I'm trying my best to focus on spending time with my partner, friends, and trying to channel these emotions into something positive.

I'm elated that my favorite band is releasing music again in 2023, and I'm trying to remember as much as i can about these moments. If i ever got to meet any of them, I'd share my story with them and thank them for every moment (good or bad) they helped me get through in life. They truly have been the soundtrack to mine.

    Long live Blink-182:blink182:

I went last year and don't think they had any cds or vinyl of any band on the lineup

This was so moving. I have my own stories with GOTD when neighborhoods came out, but this really feels like this song was meant to come out for you that day. I am incredibly sorry for your loss.

Hoping Dance With Me doesn't make me cry, but the first truly funny blink video in a long time might create some emotions!

In Fall 2019 when Nine came out they had 10.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify. Now they're hovering right below 20 million.

The hype is through the roof for this album. I'm thinking it can actually break California's numbers now.

Outro was perfection... quite the simple chorus and bridge though. Need a dozen more listens to form a proper hypothesis. Video was good to mid-great.
