Hard to believe that blink isn’t bigger than Green Day right now. I understand they’ve gone back and forth and there’s absolutely moments where Green Day was the bigger draw but it certainly isn’t 2023.

I love blink but GD is a way bigger band. It would be really surprisng if blink played last imo… but it could make sense in a pop-punk revival fest.

Opposite to what I’m reading, OMT hits me harder without the video. I’m too distracted checking the backgrounds.

Most of the time, yeah, but in 2023 blink has more juice. Tom reunion + new album on the same day, they’re probably closing.

  5. Green Day is not bigger than blink right now. They haven’t done anything even of California’s size in … a while. That last album tanked. The last tours even with bigger support aren’t doing what the Blink shows are doing.

That might be US specific. Here in the UK Green Day continuously play stadiums, even in 2022. Blink will play a couple of arena nights at the same city, not a million miles off but GD a bigger draw.

and as the WWWY festival is in the US, that’s probably the decisive factor

  11. It took three big bands and all releasing music at the same time to do that. That’s my point. They wouldn’t be able to do the venues blink is doing on this tour right now.

Don‘t understand why there’s even a debate who’s the bigger band.

Who cares about Green Day right now?

I have the capacity to care about more than one band at a time. So, yes,

So my drunk ass yesterday realized I bought all 3 Mark, Tom, Travis variants of the new record yesterday. I plan on keeping the Mark one but if anyone here wasn’t able to snag Tom or Travis that wants one i’ll sell you it for list when I get them. Just don’t flip them I want them to go to real fans lol

Green Day hasn’t really leaned into the nostalgia yet have they? I’d be curious if the did like a big anniversary tour for dookie/American idiot how they would compare or if blink would still be way above in popularity. I kinda feel like it would be the later at this point, which surprises me a bit

Not much nostalgia until they made FOAM which was pretty much Dookie Pt. 2

Eh I’m not so sure about that, I think Blink are huge and this album and tour are gonna be huge for like 30-38 year olds but globally Green Day still seems to be one of the biggest bands on the planet, more akin to the foo fighters than blink 182. Green Day is more of a household name to the general population thank blink 182 is I guess is my point. It’s not a perfect metric obviously but GD has 31 mil monthly listeners on Spotify blink 182 has 18, it’s not even close.

Yes, historically Green Day are a very big band with a huge catalog as hits. But that’s not what “right now” means. Green Day’s last music video doesn’t even have a million views and it was released in 2021. My argument is that right now Blink is bigger. Doesn’t mean they’ll close the fest or anything, but they’re a bigger and more marketable band at the moment with legit new hits.
