So interested to see what direction they go with this much focus and actually having a stable environment. Hoping for a punk ish song that blends the best of Alk3 and Blink.
I'm guessing their work with Feldmann and the fact that Mark sang on ATL's last record. Maybe Mark dug that direction. Really excited for Feldmann-produced blink, we need a slick and polished blink again, with those huge choruses they used to write.
I don't think a Mark collab and the same producer means it's gonna sound like ATL. It'll sound different obviously because of Matt and the fact that it's 2016, but not like ATL
Yeah, you're right...I guess I was talking more about production than songwriting... It think it definitely won't sound like 5SOS-influenced ATL since the blink dudes are really conscious about their whole legacy thing
The date something gets pushed to radio is not necessarily the date something debuts. So it's likely not incorrect.
I'm cautiously interested (not excited) to see how this band will sound with Matt... Still I'm one of those fans that think of blink-182 as Tom, and Mark (along with whatever drummer they have whether it be Scott, Travis or some random Joe Smoe off the street) which means I view this as entirely different band just with the same exact name, but I've decided to give this new blink-182 a shot.
Hopefully it doesn't sound like it was recorded in space. Edit: I'll fanboy over it no matter what it sounds like.
I'm really hoping for little to no isolated Matt vocals. Harmonies/backing vocals are cool but I just know if he starts singing lead on songs it'll sound like a blink/alkaline trio mashup which is not what I want if it's being released as just Blink-182 and not a new supergroup band which is totally the route they could've gone with this lineup. Mark songs will still sound like blink, I hope. The Tom songs on the last 2 releases (which is most of them) sound like AVA and I was mostly not into it. The Mark songs and the half-each songs I liked way more. The exception is 'even if she falls', probably. I want a 90% Mark vocals album though, ideally.
Because they're working with Feldmann and they want a radio hit, basically, and that's how modern arena-ready pop-punk (which is what they will be aiming at) sounds.
Yes, totally feels like Summer 2011 over again. I love this feeling. Boner inducing week ahead. :) I'm not worried about it sounding a bit like Alk3 (and that could be great, anyway). The Matt Skiba And the Sekrets' record from last year makes it pretty clear: Matt has more than one face.
Glad you have talked with the band to know everything about what THEY want. Not once have I seen them say they want a ''radio hit.''
I'm really excited for this release. With the excitement of pop punk dying out a little bit, I feel like Blink will once again lead a generation of good pop rock bands.
It's all guess work man. We're not saying we know for sure, but have you listened to any of the recent Feldmann produced albums? It certainly would make sense.
I certainly get that, I just felt his comment was really presumptive. Its all good. I just think a band the stature of Blink is way too experienced, and way too popular(still), to let a producer tell them what to do. After all the drama Mark and Travis have been through, this is very much going to be their baby. They haven't been able to make a true Blink album in a LONG time. I will just be surprised if they let outside influences control this process. We will find out soon enough.
