Blink-182 score their first #1 album in the UK.

Blink-182 landed their first U.K. No. 1 album with California (BMG), according to today’s new data from the Official Charts Company. […] California achieved chart sales of 24,000 in the week ending last night (Thursday). It’s Blink 182’s seventh studio album and eighth to chart in the U.K., in a 16-year span that also included 2005’s Greatest Hits. Their previous best showing before the new release was Take Off Your Pants And Jacket, which reached No. 4 in 2001.

Really, it's their first #1 in the UK? Crazy.

 

I know record sales have been garbage, but 24,000 seems horrendous especially for that to be at #1.

 

Pop-punk is very, very much in vogue in the UK right now.

 

I feel like that's not really horrendous since the U.K. is about a fifth of the U.S. population. I don't know though lol

Yeah, they aren't great, but they're not too unusual. It's definitely not a 'big' number one. The 1975 took the #1 spot with 60k when the new album came out. Not as bad The Lumineers #1 album though this year, with only 10,892 sales.

 

I'm not surprised that they are #1 in surprised that it's their first #1.

 

Untitled album peaked at #22 even though blink were playing arenas shortly afterwards. Reunion gave them a big boost in the public consciousness, I think.

So happy for those guys! Here's hoping the second single and some promotion gives them some staying power (Neighborhoods had no longevity at all).

 

I feel confident it won't take anywhere near 5 years like it took Neighborhoods to get 350k lol. Maybe it will have a pretty good second week since the projections were upped three times during the week and it still surpassed the last projection.

 

Damn, good for them. They deserve it.

 

If they release Los Angeles as a single I'm pretty sure they'll get the fall out boy fans and they'll sell more.

 

I think that's my favorite on the album, so good! Probably the heaviest song they've released

 

They are so many singles. She's out of her mind, Los Angeles, sober would all do really well on pop radio

The album is really good though, well deserved.

 

Like many, Im surprised this is their first #1 in the UK, but congrats to them, I love this record.

 

I relistened to Neighborhoods and When Your Heart Stops Beating earlier this week and it really made me realize how incredible California is. It's seriously an awesome album.

 

Suuuuper dumb question, but does tom see royalties from these sales because of his affiliation with the brand of Blink 182?
