I’m excited to see the general reaction to this album tomorrow outside of this community bc I think people are going to receive it really well and not feel let down.
Vinyl came in right as my work day was ending. On first listen through right now. Anthem 3. Fast. Voracious. Terrified. That chorus just hit me like a truck.
More Than You Know still absolutely CRUSHES. When We Were Young is very fun. Truly loving Tom’s vocal delivery on this album throughout. So much more “care” behind it compared to Neighbs
1. Turpentine 2. Childhood 3. Anthem Part 3 4. One More Time 5. You Don't Know What You've Got 6. Bad News 7. More Than You Know 8. Terrified 9. Blink Wave 10. Dance with Me 11. Other Side 12. When We Were Young 13. Edging 14. Hurt (Interlude) 15. Fell in Love 16. Turn This Off 17. Fuck Face
You Don’t Know What You Got is definitely decent. Blink Wave is super fun! Definitely appreciate the 80’s feel on the guitars/bass. I like the direction they took with it. Bad News is pretty epic. Great job Mark. There’s so much urgency in some of these songs. Mark’s lyricism so far has been better than anything in the past number of releases
My favorites are changing each play-through so I'm not calling this definitive or anything haha 1. Anthem Part 3 2. Dance with Me 3. Bad News 4. More Than You Know 5. Blink Wave 6. You Don't Know What You've Got 7. Terrified 8. Turpentine 9. One More Time 10. Fell in Love 11. Other Side 12. Fuck Face 13. When We Were Young 14. Childhood 15. Turn This Off! 16. Edging 17. Hurt (Interlude)
Hurt is interesting? Almost wish it was instrumental cause I kinda got AVA vibes. Turpentine. Ok. These dudes just didn’t quit this whole album it seems. Gosh dang guys, I feel so spoiled getting something like this from blink in 2023. WASH YOURSELF WITH TURPENTINE. Am sad there’s only 3 songs left
1. Bad News 2. Anthem Part 3 3. You Don't Know What You've Got 4. Blink Wave 5. Turpentine 6. Childhood 7. Other Side 8. More Than You Know 9. Dance with Me 10. Terrified 11. Edging 12. Fell in Love 13. One More Time 14. When We Were Young 15. Fuck Face 16. Turn This Off! 17. Hurt (Interlude)
Other Side is a nice one. Nice little memento for Robert from Mark. It’s giving me a mix of Happy Days/Heaven in terms of impression on me. Childhood is cool! Giving me some indie band lo-fi vibes in the chorus. Similar to something “Last Dinosaurs” would put out
"Hurt" is definitely the most AVA song on here. It's like Tom took an AVA intro and just made it into it's own interlude rather than tacking it onto a song that doesn't make any sense. Kinda like he did with "Endless Summer." That song just has a long random space intro for no good reason. Didn't fit the song at all. But yeah, "Hurt" just feels like an intro. Especially how it just kinda stops suddenly.
Overall very happy with this album. Definitely not ranking anything after one listen, but definitely want to keep listening! Might watch the interview finally during dinner and then listen again
new songs have been rolling around in my head all day. so excited to hit play when it officially drops
