I usually don’t ask for links but can someone send me one? Apparently I’m not as good at finding them as I once was.
Can't stop thinking about this record. Tom got nerdy and existential talking about the hero's journey in the Zane interview. I keep thinking about the last step in the Hero's Journey that gets glossed over in movies, shows, and books. The final step is the "Return Home" where you take everything you learned from the journey and bring it back to your life before the adventure. This record is 100% Tom's Return Home. All of his past influences and all he has done back in the blink fold with purpose and meaning. It's got me feeling a type of way. It's rad to have the Zane interview as a companion piece to this incredible album. Stoked to split hairs on every sound and moment tomorrow and in the coming weeks.
Back that! It doesn't sound all too much like those albums but I 100% believe this record is better for those preceding it, I'd lump Lifeforms into that too personally.
If I listen to Terrified enough times, I hope that guitar intro eventually stops reminding me of STD Kerouac & Cassady
Kinda impressed nobody has mentioned how awesome is having a Degenerate reference at the end of You Don't Know What You've Got, when Tom repeats "Ben Dover"
That rolling stone review sucked. lol really buried the lead with calling it their ninth album in the first sentence.
Any review that doesn't acknowledge the wild key and time signature changes in Turpentine is irrelevant to me.
yeah the band obviously regards buddha as their debut since they literally named their 9th album nine but, i do not count it either.
https://chorus.fm/news/mark-hoppus-explains-nine-title/ Marks list: NINE. this is our ninth album, as decided by me and travis. some count buddha, some not. some count the mark tom and travis show. some count greatest hits. some count dogs eating dogs. i’m counting buddha, cheshire cat, dude ranch, enema of the state, toypaj, untitled, neighborhoods, califronia, and now NINE. nine is also the number of universal love. and the number of uranus. remember to like and smash that subscribe button, or whatever it is the kids say now.
