I am annoyed that Genius still hasn't put the lyrics back up. Guessing they won't reappear until tomorrow.
I say chorus as a community should transcribe the lyrics ourselves. There are clearly tons of mistakes on the sheet haha
Is it supposed to be Garfield Light on Other Side? (Maybe coffee light is an inside thing, but I noticed every show Brian Diaz came out and made sure that Garfield Light stood out there on Mark's side of the stage) Listening closely I guess I don't hear "field", I just don't get it otherwise lol. Edit: guess it's coffee life which is better
Double response! But same. OMT is cool and I’m glad they got to write it for themselves but…it’s just in the way of me getting to Blink Wave and turpentine again haha
Edging is great. It was the first light hearted, pop-punk song we had heard from the classic trio in a long time.
This sounds like a ChatGPT review haha. The "oh no" part of the chorus is super catchy and good. The verses stink, and the "wanna play" nonsense is also bad.
Ahhh it finally clicked, the "stuck in life's waiting room" part of YDKWYG reminds me of "Now I'll never have a chance" in Hear You Me
I don't dislike Edging but after one listen I feel like it feels out of place on here. It'll probably go down as a skip for me on this but I'll give it a chance in the context of the album. I'll have to see about Fell In Love too
Everything in context of the album works. DWM into FIL... EDGING sits where it needs to. Back to front, it just works, and this is after being in our ears for 12-15 hours. The only song not hitting me atm is Bad News, but I'm sure it will with time and love. Every time a new track starts I'm excited for it, which means they fucking did it. I'm also drunk. Craft beer and a Descendents show is the best mix. The songs we've heard work in context of the album, and that's where this band shines.
I try and give edging a chance but end up skipping it so I can get to the better songs. Maybe it's just been too played out for me.
Blink Wave, Bad News and Turpentine are my favorites after 2 listens. Anthem 3 and Terrified are dope as well. The rest vary from good to...Edging and Turn This Off.
I still like both "Fell In Love" and "Edging", but I'd say the main critique I've seen is that "Fell In Love" sounds much more generic and like a lot of other artists whereas "Edging" still feels like blink, so I don't know. Both are simple, fun and catchy so both are pretty inoffensive IMO.
Is OTHER SIDE about Matt? I know Mark references stage right where Matt wasn't standing, but it's a fun, positive song that seems like it could be a Matt nod.
Second review just dropped, this one from Wall Of Sound and it is not much better than the Riff one, lol.
I made a playlist of the album without the 4-5 singles just to familiarize myself with the non-single tracks then later this afternoon, I'll listen again in whole from front to back lol
It's been a long time since I've felt so overwhelmed by a first listen. This whole situation is insane.
Stage right is where Mark plays. Matt was stage left. I believe I saw someone saw it was about an old bass tech of some sort.
