just hit play on this, Anthem Pt 3 absolutely rips. so good Fell in Love is truly awful lol but Terrified regains all that ground. love how there's like ten words in the whole song and that's all it needs
that hook on When We Were Young... that's the good shit. can't believe it wasn't a single. Tom is sounding so good and so engaged on this thing.
oh yeah Blink Wave is a much better Cure tribute lmao. sounds like it could've been on Neighborhoods which rules Mark is absolutely killing it on the back end of this, that bridge on You Don't Know is something else
the back half of this is definitely where it's at. love how weird it gets with Turpentine and Childhood, the structure of those songs is wild for blink. Other Side is sick and probably destined to be underrated like Here's Your Letter, it's even in the same slot Dance With Me, Terrified, WWWY and Blink Wave are my early faves. it's all gravy except FIL and the two joke songs, which I hated but they're short enough not to derail the album too much. really surprisingly strong stuff here, whoever said it was a modern TOYPAJ was on the money
Just started my first listen. Wow. Terrified rips and you can hear the BCR DNA straight out of the gate. excited for the rest of the non singles I haven't heard
As someone who has an untitled blink neck tattoo, this at the very least rivals that album on first listen as possibly my new favorite blink album
Loool I totally bought it!! Thought it was released early or something. Could this be a new way of rick-rolling?
I could see AvA becoming a studio only band like Tom hinted at where he was thinking of going with music in the interview (before he found out about Mark) especially since it seems like he enjoys working with Ilan on stuff (he even gave him Monsters of California to score). Although with stuff like Hurt, and Neighborhoods/DED (yeah, I know Neighborhoods was a Frankenstein album, but still...) and even parts of this album where we can hear some AvA influence, Mark and Travis have shown they are cool with Tom's AvA sounding stuff (Mark even blasted 'The Adventure' in his room on tour recently) so I agree with you that Tom isn't limited in blink anymore. I don't know, maybe Tom could do AvA on downtimes when Mark and Travis just want to relax?
I have to say, this song gives me the same vibes as "This Is Home" and I loved that song off of Neighborhoods so I view "TIH" and "BW" as companion songs.
The ending of Childhood has that sad but nostalgic feeling of falling asleep in your old bedroom with the pause menu music of an old video game still playing in the background. Absolutely brilliant.
the pairing of Blink Wave followed by Bad News directly made me think of This is Home followed by MH 4 18 11, but like.. fully realized, collaborative and infinitely better versions of them lol
The weaker pre-release tracks fair much better in sequence. I still think that the chorus of "Fell in Love" sounds like a Pup Punk song, but you kind've ignore it for how catchy it is.
bad news gives me major motion city soundtrack vibes in a really good way specifically in the choruses.
Blink Wave is easily my favorite. The only one I don’t really enjoy is Childhood rn. Otherwise strong ass album.
You Don't Know What You've Got sounds like a million times better to me in the context of the album! What a gift to have this record
