TURPENTINE WHAT THE FUCK!?!@!?!?!

 

Three things:

1.) These guys just gave fans what they’ve wanted for the last 20 years and the boys enjoyed doing it.

2.) The difference between this album and Neighborhoods is comical. I can’t believe it’s the same 3 dudes haha.

3.) Tom’s performance is gritty and what made me fall in love with his music in the first place. I’m so happy Scrappy Tom is back. Please don’t go anywhere!

 

I won't claim that neighborhoods is a good album, just that it has some great songs

 

good lord!!! I haven’t been that moved by a first play since whisper came out when I was a teenager. anthem part 3 is an instant classic. opening verse is like if tom did the boundless optimism from early ava set to blink, chorus is on par with all the best new songs & that outro is a brain melter.

listened to each new song once. Stoked to do a proper play through tomorrow night. at its lowest it’s equal to the best stuff in the skiba era and at its best it’s their raddest music since untitled.

 

Turpentine is a fucking trip! Rollercoaster of a song. THAT BRIDGE?! WTFFFFF. Chills

 

major modern day shut up vibes.

 

I went from thinking You Don't Know What You've Got was good, but now I think it's great.

 

Also...some great Blink lyrics throughout this thing. Heh.

 

i spent years devastated that tom left blink the second time bc i was soooo psyched for him to bring something like ava's "mercenaries" to a blink album.... MOTHERFUCKERS THAT'S "TURPENTINE"!!! MY DREAM CAME TRUE!!!!

a nod to every blink era and blink member project without being derivative and all of it lives under the umbrella of blink coming out swinging in 2023. everything i was hoping for with plenty of runway to keep taking massive steps forward. very satisfied as a lifer blink fan

 

Blink needs to be fun/juvenile (even when they are being serious and maudlin) and it needs Tom. Neighborhoods had the latter and Skiba 182 had the former. This one has both and it’s a beautiful successor to TOYPAJ. An achievement this is.
