I give this a full playthrough pretty regularly as well. It's still a no-skip album for me even through Part 2. If I'm in the mood for something with a shorter run time, Part 2 works pretty well as its own standalone thing. Sometimes I feel like I can gravitate to a band's most recent work and convince myself that it's my favorite, but then it wears off once a new album drops and it's not the most recent anymore.... but I feel like I've given OMT enough listens by now that I can safely say it's somewhere in the top tier of blink albums for me.
I still feel some type of disbelief that Tom is back and that we got this new peak where they are (arguably) the best they've sounded. AND effing new music? I had fully believed these three dudes were never going to be in the same room ever again. OMT P1 and P2 are so special in a sense that it encapsulates so much of that emotional side outside of the actual lyrics within it. It represents such a special peak in this band's career that I truly thought was never going to happen.
I listened to part 2 a bunch when it came out and then hadn’t for a couple months. it’s back in the rotation a couple times a week and it’s an unbelievable mini album for me. I like that pt. 1 was a proper insanely strong comeback album and pt 2 keeps the energy up but takes some swings and doesn’t take itself too seriously. Gives me permission to believe pt 1 was a return to form firing on all cylinders while honoring the past and pt 2 is a bridge to the next release that will continue to push the progression forward. Love that this one show announcement brought back the hype. They just keep doing rad shit that is such good vibes.
Still salty they didn’t get a Grammy nomination for OMT. My wife was watching the big ones and I was all “ITS ALL A SHAM!” Exclusively because of the blink snub lol.
Listening to this a lot more in the car since I got my deluxe cd. My top 10 is pretty set (was gonna do 5 but it felt too limiting) More Than You Know If You Never Left Can't Go Back Turpentine Other Side One Night Stand Blink Wave Anthem Part 3 Dance With Me Bad News
they only pick blink when they are scraping the barrel its always maroon 5, weezer, (hot indie rock band at the moment) those kind of bands.
I can't think of many artists that came out of the gate so strong, energized and exciting as Cage The Elephant then so quickly devolved into absolutely bores. I saw them live back around their second album and it was a true sight to see Look at how great they were, what a waste
Fuck those guys. I had the displeasure of meeting them through work at lollapalooza years ago, and they were just the worst people. I’m glad I don’t listen to them or else I would’ve been truly heartbroken
I am only really familiar with their first album, but I was given free tickets to see them last year and their energy was still through the roof. Even with the frontman having a broken foot.
The number of times I have listened to this album (parts 1 and 2) is obscene and growing more obscene
It is still incredibly difficult for me to turn this off once I turn it on, even if the original intention was to just listen to a few songs.
Swap Terrified for One Night Stand, add When We Were Young, All In My Head, Take Me In after Dance With Me and then add Childhood as the closer and this is my list. Plus maybe 5-6 other songs.
Everyone Everywhere didn’t click with me as well as the other songs originally. I now dig it, but the last chorus with Mark’s overlay/harmony is great.
Yep, the last chorus is what really elevates the song for me and the takes it into classic Blink territory.
