I love MTYK but is not the kind of song I usually want to listen when I’m in a blink mood. I totally get skipping it.
I’ll stop listening to an album if in the middle I feel like something else or find myself in a different mood, but once playing I don’t think I’ve ever skipped over a song on any album I'm listening to. I listen straight through or move to something else.
• Puts the vinyl record on. • The last Taco Bell gong rings out on “One More Time”. • I realize I have mere seconds before the out of tune piano begins its opening line. • I sprint up from the couch. • ”Out of my way!!” I yell as my wife and child are pushed aside. • I begin to hear the silence of the song ending, losing hope knowing MTYK is about to begin. • Just as the needle begins to take the grooves for the next track, I pluck the cartridge up. • I am saved from having to hear MTYK. • I now flip to side B and feverishly try to find the beginning of Blink Wave. • I return to my couch with satisfaction. • My wife and child close the door to the family car and depart the driveway, and, my life.
If I actively sit down and choose to “listen to said album” then I probably won’t skip. But when I’m driving and throw an album on, I’ll skip songs I’m not feeling in the moment. I can’t imagine this is a hot take lol - just listen to what you’re feeling
Probably 95% of the time I listen to music is full albums. I never skip. That 5% is random playlists I listen to once in a blue moon (or emo/pop punk Christmas songs) or playlists of live sets I’ve seen (or to prep for a show).
The most insane person I know is my fiancée’s brother, who skips every single song after the first chorus
In the running for worst chorus user ever. Just bragged about flipping houses and how our lives sucked compared to his
