The musical and lyrical chaos of Turpentine can't help but me make me think of this scene from The Lighthouse when they also dabble with some turpentine....
I hate to do this but both Dictionary.com and Merriam Webster do not consider Frankenstein to be a verb.
Do I go for the Ultimate VIP for the "signed item" or do I go for Early Entry so I'm not waiting around all day to get barricade?
Turpentine is wild. When I first heard it I was all "is this a joke song or a super cool push forward" I think it is both. I can tell you the time signature has been rolling around my brain all morning and I have been tapping the beat on loop. I love the anecdotes from the blink crew about the album. Mark said they won't do press they don't want to do in the Zane interview. Respect it, but I do hope we get some more interviews from each individual member.
I know they sold out Hartford which is 30k for the first reunion, and this tour will probably do better based on how shit sold for this reunion tour
I think the more absurd lines on "Turpentine" work for me because they're not part of a literal narrative, they're representations of intrusive thoughts stemming from anxiety. Like in the context of the song, which is largely about feeling lost and mentally broken: "Stick your dick in Ovaltine Snort a bag of dramamine Douse yourself in gasoline Throw up in a limousine" These are all just self-destructive behaviors one may contemplate during periods of extreme self-loathing, not literal events occuring within the song. Once while in line at a buffet, I remembered something embarassing I did in 7th grade, and immediately wanted to crush my face in the Panini press. I feel like that's the type of vibe these lyrics have.
nfg is one of my all time favorite bands, i heard it immediately. like the first time i heard this nfg track. the song and especially the bridge is a total blink homage! comes in at 1:22 if you don't wanna listen to the whole song
I think I had said this before, but yes, Bad News is so on-the-nose pop-punk that it hurts (in a good way).
Venue sizes seem about right to me, given the fanfare surrounding the reunion. They could've easily done 2 nights at TD in Boston, possibly 3. Fenway should be a near sell out right away, I'd think.
