As Not a Big Blink Guy (I only really like untitled), I really like most of this record. I think they could have trimmed a few tracks, but that unwieldiness is part of what's so charming about untitled, too.

 

Is "Turpentine" the best Blink song??? I think it's very much possible

I don't know if I can incorporate the non-singles into a ranking vs. the singles thus far... feels like two different albums but that gap will close with time. Anthem Pt. 3, Turpentine, Blink Wave, Other Side all feel like instant classics/favorites/all-timers for me

... and I still haven't wrapped my head around Turpentine. I feel like it's just a melting pot of the best things blink/blink side projects have done evolving into what blink-182 in 2023 is supposed to be/sound like lyrically/instrumentally/emotionally/humorously/seriously.... again - what the fuck is IT.

The drums on More Than You Know sound like automatic weapons lmao.

If I was gonna trim the album down, I'd say I've come around on "Edging" but feel it works better as a standalone single. I'd cut "Fell in Love," the joke tracks (I know) and the interlude. I could do without "You Don't Know What You've Got," but I'm already cutting the poppiest tracks on the record so I'm not mad about it existing. I just prefer that dark untitled energy.

 

I posted that bit about Turpentine in the Discord and Mark responded with:

 

The absurd lyrics in Turpentine hold it back from being higher for me. I like the song. I love the instrumental parts. Love Tom’s delivery and Mark’s part is golden. But the dick in ovaltine stuff, while funny, just makes it feel lesser to me. It is a cool song. It is essentially a Frankenstein put together song that works really well. Like, it’s rad. But I am always going to prefer songs like Childhood, More Than You Know, Blink Wave, OMT, etc more.

 

I mean, in what context?

 

I wouldn't knock it until you try sticking your dick in some ovaltine
