If the drum mixing is so widely discussed on this album can Travis go back and mix the old blink albums again?? Cause damn crank those drums way tf up man! Dude’s the reason I love this band/drumming in general.
your inability to hear it doesn’t mean it isn’t different. plus Spotify playback quality is so bad you’re never gonna be able to pick up nuances like that using the platform tbh
I meant, generally speaking, they were hitting the stage in 5 minutes. Sorry if I got your hopes up! I’m refreshing Setlist.fm for whatever people who are there share live.
Rewatched the untitled MTV show with Mark’s commentary tonight and laughed when Travis asked for more attack on the drums in the mix.
Maybe I just give people too much credit, or maybe I’m just projecting lol, but I largely don’t take production criticism as an objective statement as much as just a statement of preference Speaking only for myself, I fully believe the production team accomplished what they set out to do here - not arguing any of it was done without intention. I just dislike the style and wish there was more dimension
anyone who listens to music on Spotify should have their production opinions immediately disregarded imo
I’m now afraid to give my thoughts on the drums in the mix for this album… (fwiw listening on Apple Music, airpods, etc) I do like the album overall though.
Travis is an amazing drummer and that’s why I’m bummed his recorded drums sound like that. They sound programmed. And while it’s cool that he takes it up a notch every album, I wish he would show a bit more restraint in his playing
Maybe it’s too on the nose, but I kind of can’t believe they didn’t play When We Were Young just for the novelty
I haven’t really focused on the drums but I do feel he has played a bit more restrained in this album, specially compared to California or Nine, where I felt he was all over the place.
Sometimes I feel like it’s a blessing having zero knowledge about music or production or audio quality. I simply have a primal response to music, either I connect with it or I don’t. I do get completely blown away and have a lot of respect for some the comments I read whether it’s praise or criticism when others are describing something I don’t completely comprehend or even hear in a particular song or album. I just simply enjoy One More time. I would struggle putting it into words why I think it’s good, I just think it’s good, and I’m good with that.
I mean it’s okay to have a different perspective on sound and if you have a legit set up where you can actually hear what’s going on your thoughts are valid
