The Anthem Part 3 outro continues to wreck me. Been listening to them for decades and to hear such a triumphant and empowering ending from them is just really cool. Like, all the memories I have of this band all these years comes flashing through my mind during that part.
As a someone who’s also gone through a battle with blood cancer, ‘You Don’t Know What You’ve Got’ hits so damn hard
My emotions on this have settled, and of course I absolutely love it. Then I read Jason's review and it hit me all over again. It's a weird thing. I've been asked before over the years "When did you get into blink?" or "When did you first listen to them?" or things in a similar vein. It's pretty clear to me that they "found me", if that makes sense. Came into my life when it was supposed to. I was meant to fall into this crazy, wonderful orbit back when I was 13. I didn't find Blink-182 and punk rock, it found me.
If I had to make ONE complaint about the album as a whole, it’s that the sequencing at the beginning is a little jarring with “Terrified” following “Fell In Love” and leading into “One More Time”. It’s never what I expect to happen lol. I could also handle the front half having a little more Mark but meh, not a big deal.
I never thought I’d be listening to a Blink-182 album in 2023 and enjoying it and connecting with it. Wild.
I know some of you don't really enjoy Edging as much as I do, but can we all agree that Mark's verse is golden ? Yes, no ?
Mostly a lurker here, but just want to pop in and say this album is insane, I've been listening to it constantly since last night. I honestly didn't think the three of them had it in them to make something this good at this point in their careers. Blink always said they felt they could do whatever genre they wanted with their music, but this album feels like the first time they actually followed through with that. I am so here for it
Only one or two listens in but certified bangers are… Anthem Pt 3 Dance With Me Terrified (!!!) More Than You Know Blink Wave Bad News Overall digging quite a bit. Looking forward to more listens! Also realizing I listed about half of the album above so… whoops, guess that’s a good sign lol
Looking back now, it really is crazy how well the band did with being so calculated in announcing being reunited with Tom, the tours, the singles, and then thinking the album was never gonna come out (lol) they basically smashed every expectation. I think like most people I didn’t think they would sound this good live again/and on record. I also know people were bummed that there wasn’t a ton press/interviews etc but really the Zane Lowe interview was all that we needed imo. Reminds me from the album launch doc for untitled the band talked about how they felt like they weren’t able to do things on their own terms or people basically put them in a box of the band who made dick jokes/ran around naked and they really wanted to showcase untitled on their terms as a band. Feels the same with One More Time…
Took a break from listening for a few hours, gave things some time to sink in a bit, and man… now, got the volume cranked, got my pure undivided attention, and these songs are hitting even harder.
i just love when releases like this happen that feel like landmark moments for chorus and everybody comes together. makes me proud to be a part of this place
Blink Wave is an absolute jam. Definitely in the minority (it seems?) but Dance With Me and Fell In Love are two of my favorite songs on this album. Just pure, catchy, fun, pop punk. Hot take but the two songs that haven’t hit me (yet) are Terrified and When We Were Young. I am absolutely sure this album will grow on me after each listen. But impressed that the majority of the album hit right after just a few listens.
