Definitely my second favorite on the album. Such cool vibes.

I wonder whatever happened with that Antemasque album that had Travis drumming on it

People on this forum have ranked it as the worst song and I gasped reading that.

  4. Heh, always curious to see who gets what little things I throw in there.

Wellp, I've shown my fiance my top 3 songs on the album and she hates them all. I tried!

It took a lot of begging to even let me play them

Call it off now before it’s too late.

  9. Haha, thank you! That reference and that specific part of the review is one of my faves as well. Trying to explain why someone likes a band like Blink has always been so difficult because so much of it is a feeling and not some simple chords and words.

I'll talk to one of my wife's (professional musician) friends and they'll all be talking about movement 5 of something great and then ask what kind of music I like ... and I get to do the uh ... face.

Told my gf she’d like Bad News and after the first few lines she asked if I was trying to tell her something about our relationship.

You know that episode of Bobs Burgers where they have random disco hour at the grocery and you just have to dance? That's Blink Wave. Just can't not bop.

@Jason Tate someone else already asked, but I’m also curious on what your first listening experience/setting was like for this one. Gonna remember mine for a long time

I really hope Blink Wave is the next single. They could do an awesome 80s video for it.

We’re about the same age Jason and our paths to discovery are similar. I grew up in a musical house, exposed to all things 60s, 70s, and 80s. I’m old enough to have appreciated and been impacted by the grunge and alternative movement of the early 90s. I loved Dookie and its gateway to the world of punk music. I loved it all.

In late 1995 during the fall of 6th grade I was diagnosed with an extremely rare form of bone cancer. A football sized tumor grew out of my rib cage inward, crushing everything in its path. It was pretty dire. Through medical miracles, supportive family, and healing power of music and movies, after a year of treatment I was healed. I rejoined school in 8th grade after treatment and it was a very difficult transition. My friends all seemingly moved on without me. In many ways i simultaneously felt left behind but also ahead of them as I had this newfound perspective. Fast forward to that summer, I was facing high school and moving to a new school, anxious for a fresh start on top of the anxiety of starting high school. It was very tough. Then that September I heard a song that struck a chord, and hit me in a way I never felt before. Dammit. Then like many of you all I went down the blink rabbit hole, found my community, and started to find identity again, or at least an idea of it.

The emotions this new record have stirred in me, what this band has meant to me, and the soundtrack to my life they have been, just hits all so hard. To say I love this band is such a gross understatement but to me, since that discovery, it’s always been blink and always will be.

Can we please clear up who is singing on Fuck Face? I know Tom and Travis are trading vocals, but where does Tim Armstrong come into play?

  23. Not as romantic as one would hope. The streaming platform used was web based, no files, so it was here in my office. It was mid day and I had a nice Liquid Death iced tea sitting next to me and I hit play. Loved it right away, and felt like it put together so many parts of the band's history into one album, grabbing little nuggets from their past work and projects, and that was where I originally thought I'd take the review if I wrote one. But, wasn't sure. And then like the fourth listen or so is when the whole friendship and music thing started to hit me ... and that was when I thought I had a real theme I could build around, and it was around there I posted in the Slack channel I was going to review it.

When was this? I'm curious if it's around the time you started posting in here more than ever. I remember at one point thinking to myself, "Jason must have heard this and loved it."

    Things have changed.

He doesn't sing on it. With no credits in the liners, it's impossible to know if he even played guitar on it, or was just involved in the writing of it.
