I really dislike Mark's lyrics throughout the record, and I feel like Travis tends to overplay some of the parts. There were a lot of songs that were ok, and had potential, but just didn't hit for me. I hated California, though.
It won’t ever surpass Dude Ranch, Enema, TOYPAJ, Untitled. But it’s already better than Neighborhoods and California.
This is very good. I'm close to saying it's their best post-reunion album but I need some more listens. I didn't expect it to be as dark and moody as it is. "Black Rain," "I Really Wish I Hated You" and "No Heart to Speak Of" are killer.
I'm enjoying the album quite a bit, I just don't feel like it could ever surpass Untitled, Neighborhoods and DED for me. The albums before Untitled just haven't aged well for me and I'm not too keen on California.
Not so sure this is better than Neighborhoods for me, but time will tell. You just can't beat the Dude Ranch-Untitled albums though.
First listen and love it. Pin the Grenade is such a catchy chorus. Travis sounds good throughout. Great to see more of Matt on songs too. Lyrically seems like he had a lot of input too as a lot of Skiba-ish lyrics on this. Only song which didn't hit on the first listen for me is No Heart to Speak Of but I am sure this will be a grower.
I'm up to Hungover You and I'm loving the hell out of this. Hungover You - Darkside - Pin the Grenade - IRWIHY - No Heart to Speak of are all up there with their best material
I need to GTFO of the office and home to finally listen to this album ASAP. Only 8 more hours to go. Longest hourssss.
