posted this in the other thread: so I made a reworked playlist to try to change the pacing of the album just slightly, and to make the half-time chorus utilization on this record a little less noticable, and I love sequencing and trying to find the perfect sequencing let me know your thoughts! Some thoughts on pacing: I think they really should have had Darkside as the second track, missed opportunity there to set the tone early I also placed No Heart to Speak of before Remember to Forget Me as the outro leads into the closer really well, almost as if we're winding down. Also the melody halfway through sounds like a callback to the melody of No Heart Happy Days into Generational Divide is funny in a meta way, and would be a much better fast "joke"song in that spot
Here's my ranking so far, but it'll probably change 1. No Heart To Speak Of 2. I Really Wish I Hated You 3. Hungover You 4. Ransom 5. The First Time 6. Darkside 7. Remember To Forget Me 8. Pin The Grenade 9. Run Away 10. Black Rain 11. Heaven 12. Generational Divide 13. Happy Days 14. On Some Emo Shit 15. Blame It On My Youth
First listen through and the ones that stood out to me the most were The First Time, Darkside, Black Rain, and Hungover You. Need to give it a few more listens to fully digest it, but overall it sounds really good. All of the songs were pretty enjoyable and sounded good (though tbh there are VERY few blink songs that I don't like)
Also, to add to this California disucssion, Rabbit Hole is a good song. Los Angeles is the best on that album though. And don't forget about Parking Lot and Misery, both of which were very good additions on the deluxe version
wow im glad that we all like different parts of the newer albums, they must be like good or something !
BIOMY is the only song I’d actually cut. Maybe Happy Days, if need be. Darkside is easily the strongest of the singles.
I’d keep all of the “singles”. And then I’d also keep the rest of the songs. And I’d probably leave them in the order they are already in. That’s my hot take.
Some of the lyrics and melodies are cringeworthy but it’s a decent blink album. I haven’t been into them since untitled and this isn’t going to change that.
This album has made me revisit California deluxe and surprisingly there’s a great 16 song album in there. I reorganized the song order and this is my ultimate California mix I shall use from now on. 1. Cynical 2. She’s Out Of Her Mind 3. Rabbit Hole 4. Bored To Death 5. Left Alone 6. Home Is Such A Lonely Place 7. San Diego 8. Kings Of The Weekend 9. Parking Lot 10. Sober 11. Los Angeles 12. Last Train Home 13. 6/8 14. The Only Thing That Matters 15. Bottom Of The Ocean 16. California All the other songs left out I sincerely do not like at all, they’re just very bland pop punk stuff to me that I don’t care listening to again.
The closing of Remember to Forget Me reminds me a lot of several moments on Bad Astronaut's - "Houston We Have A Drinking Problem", which is pretty interesting considering Blink listed it as one of the inspirations for Untitled.
