Is this different from the 1st weekend? I watched the beginning of that one and they opened the same, if I remember correctly
they swapped Dysentery Gary and Don't Leave Me for Stay Together for the Kids and Always, otherwise the same
Caught a chunk of this. Sounded better this time but i think that was expected. Tom still looks like he wants to be there. All good stuff.
Found Always. Still searching for STFTK. But Tom is singing like he’s trying to sing like 2003 Tom. Finally
Only just listening to the 1st weekend show that @Jason Tate posted in the Liner Notes thread. Songs sound great and they're still hilarious, only complaint is Mark talks over Tom a lot in the beginning but then they seem to find their groove. Having a blast listening to it though, can't wait to check out weekend 2!
Tom is defo using live auto tune which Is the reason he sounds better… doesn’t bother me though, I’m all for it love these guys too much
You can hear it during First Date as there's a pretty obvious wobble effect on his voice when he says honest. Then when the song ends and he goes into a joke you can clearly hear an effect on his voice.
yeah this basically! There was a bit of a bodge from the engineer where they over juiced the auto tune.
Neighborhoods is good. I dig it. It could have been better tho. The best songs on that record are the ones that worked on in person.
Do you really think he’s using live auto tune? Because he sounded good but if he is using it, then it missed a whole lot of off notes! My guess is it’s more vocal effects than straight auto tune. More reverb, delay, echo, etc to add some depth to what he’s doing. But who knows. I’m just guessing…!
Heres a video that pretty clearly breaks down the use of autotune in the first performance. I personally dont care - Tom sounds great. Does anyone know if theyre going to do any of the Skiba songs on tour? I think Bored to Death is one of the best songs theyve ever done and Id hate for it to just be forgotten about.
Can't say I care he uses auto tune either. For the prices blink tickets are going for, I'd want the best performance possible lol
Lol I agree. My thoughts have completely 180'd on this over the years. I could care less about how "authentic/real" live vocals are (especially Tom's xD) if they can sit a bit closer to the expected pitch
Saw them at week 1 Coachella. Would have enjoyed Always, but hopefully they play that at WWWY23. My wife is sensitive to suicide-based songs, so I'm glad we missed Adam's Song (which isn't a favorite of mine anyway). Thanks for the breakdown. Agreed about Bored to Death. "Edging" is such a letdown as a "comeback" song comparatively.
@Jason Tate are you planning on “mastering” and posting this one too? I’ve been really digging the first one.
Same here, listened to his version most of yesterday, sounds great! I was wondering if he'd be doing the second one too.
