I watched this the other night and I have to say, as someone who has loosely followed Tom's vocal progression/regression since he basically left to start AVA, this was the best I've heard him since that first breakup in 2005-ish.

Took him a couple songs to hit his stride, but as long as he doesn't add too much emphasis to the words and just sings it plainly, he sounded pretty good. Still not vintage Tom, but I was impressed.

 

Amazing set list and they did sound pretty awesome....almost makes me want to pay $175 for a nose bleed seat on the side of/pretty much behind the stage

 

I was there, and it was a ton of fun. Such a great addition to Coachella.

 

Totally agreed- when he started with Anthem Pt. 2 I was real worried but a few songs in either he settled down or I got used to it and I ended up really enjoying the set and sound.

 

Why does he sing so differently now? Is it because of that time with AVA? It's bizarre to me that he seems unable to sing blink songs. Or maybe he never really could? hmm.

 

His voice has gotten a good bit deeper since then, so a good amount of older songs are just out of his range. Not to mention his singing style has changed. I noticed he sounded much better on later/lower songs.
