also would like to not see co-writers on the next blink album. I want to see what mark, travis and matt can come up with on their own

Glad to see more people coming out of the woodwork saying they don't enjoy the record after spending more time with it. I tried to like it, I went to see them. I just can't get into it. I wonder if Tate's thoughts have changed at all with time?

so I'd already been thinking about this recently, but since I saw your username I had to mention it. blink, green day, and jimmy eat world came out with new albums. we need another pop disaster tour haha. would probably never happen, but it'd be awesome, they could do something funny with it about all be old rockers.

It's weird to be happy people don't like an album

That would be dope, but the ticket prices would be insane I'm sure. Don't forget Saves the Day was on that tour too!

When I saw Blink a few weeks ago, I saw a girl there who was wearing an original pop disaster tour t-shirt. Had to high-five her.

  8. California did what they intended for it to do:
    Give them a comeback

They got the #1 album in the country, a big radio hit, a huge tour, etc.

It's a very safe album, which it had to be in order to get them that success again. It had to appeal to the masses. California has some great songs, especially in the top half, but there are definitely some duds. The title track? Get out of here! Haha.

In comparison to Neighborhoods, the new album is a lot more focused. There are songs on it that I'd consider to be classic Blink songs, such as "Bored To Death" and "She's Out Of Her Mind." Neighborhoods was all over the place and just sounded like an album of ideas and demos rather than a cohesive record. I like California more, but I'd like Blink to experiment and get a little darker, like Neighborhoods did.

I'd like to see them work with Bill Stevenson on the next album, let Matt have more input, and not use any co-writers.

Perfect post about the album. An enjoyable, safe album. I still listen to it once a week or so. The bridge on San Diego is classic blink, to me. I love it. Some less memorable moments on it for sure, but a light, fun summer album. Not sure how much I'll listen to it in the fall/winter.

Nothing on it hit as hard as After Midnight or Kaleidoscope for me, but I do enjoy it as a whole more than Neighborhoods.

speaking of After Midnight and Kaleidoscope... they really need to do those songs live with Matt. I haven't looked at any set lists since my show over the summer, but he would do so well on those songs.

Kaleidoscope never gets any love! I clicked with that one immediately when it was released.

I narrowed it down to the songs I like (Cynical, San Diego, She's Out of Her Mind, Bored to Death), everything else I'm completely okay with never hearing again. Too many good albums came out this year that deserve attention as opposed to forcing myself to enjoy a bunch of filler songs or just straight up bad songs in general on California.

The whole co-writers thing is so silly. You don't think Mark, Tom and Travis had help on their previous albums? Jerry Finn was a huge influence on the band. It's just that writing credits in 2016 are much different than they were in the late 90s/early 2000s.

Also if they didn't list that the band had co-writers would anyone really be able to tell? Does anyone listen to Sober and go man it would have been so much better if Patrick Stump didn't co write it? Who knows what exactly the co-writing credit means. Mark said Stump gave him the "Four Leaf Clover line" what if that's all he did as far as "writing".

Yeah there's no way Jerry Finn and Roger Joseph Manning Jr didn't contribute writing in the past, it just wasn't credited like things are nowadays

I still love California. While I have moved on to TBS' Tidal Wave(which is pretty dang good btw), I still ind myself humming California songs sometimes and such. Not their best effort, but by far not their worst. It gets a solid 8/10 from me

Yeah as far as I can tell they always kinda just said he got the credit for coming up with that line. Who knows

As for California. I think I actually liked Neighbourhoods high points far more that California's. But Cali has less low points but is less long standing for me as things like After Midnight, Wishing Well, Ghosts and Up All Night will be on my rotation
