Carousel

 

Carousel was on there lol. M&ms was originally but I had to trim it to save space. It was the last one I removed :(

 

Carousel is his crowning achievement? Tom even said that "Damnit" changed the whole trajectory of Blink-182, and that song never gets written without Mark. What about Blink's first cross-over single - What's My Age Again? I also would say Adam's Song is a pretty important song for this band as it marked the first time they came out from behind their sophomoric image.

I really can't foresee an argument that could be made around the idea that Mark held back Blink in any way shape or form. In my opinion Mark carried Dude Ranch and to a great extent was the catalyst behind what I liked most about Enema. I suppose the Self-Titled record probably doesn't turn out the way it did without Tom's influence and that is pretty striking because that record is pretty great but at no point in time was Tom held back artistically by Mark, at least not in ways that I would have liked to see materialize as a fan of Blink

 

You know after I read your response I had to go back and read your original post twice because I still didn't see it. And it's the 2nd song! Haha. My bad.

 

Yeah Mark not only wrote the lyrics to Dammit but the guitar part too. Without Dammit we're probably not talking about Blink today. I'll go even further and say Mark absolutely carried the band from Buddha to Enema.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think either Mark or Tom could have had the success they did without each other (and after Travis joined) but to say Mark's crowning achievement is Carousel or that he held the band back is just plain wrong.

 

This is the most butthurt review I've ever seen.

And for shits and giggles, I went and looked for videos of that date. He sounds fine, he's even leading a fucking chant before First Date so he's most certainly not "bored and looking as if he doesn't want to be there", and there were 3 or 4 people walking towards the exit before the song even started for who knows what reason. The place is full of thousands of people. 3 or 4 people possibly going to the damn bathroom is not a crowd clamoring to leave because they think the show is horrible. You're gross if you're getting paid or free tickets to a show to write an article full of blatant lies just because a member you like got replaced.

I tweeted at the reviewer's paper and they literally told me he had a bias going in being such a huge Tom fan - LOL

 

No wait - on that review.... he didn't know ATL..... and then went on to say great things about ADTR... You know where his allergiance stands...

I didnt even read his review on B182. No reason... He lost me with 'Im not familiar with ATL....'

It's funny how in one part of the review he's complaining that blink are relying too much on their past, and then later on he's moaning that they don't do dick and fart jokes anymore

 

To say carousel is mark's crowning achievement is really stupid. As mentioned above, dammit, adams song, etc. Should not be forgotten.

I don't like the Argument of mark holding tom back artistically. If you let tom loose, you get AvA and Neighborhoods. How is that for crowning achievement?

Tom can talk all he wants about his visions, and that is fine. But fact is, he is not the artistic genius he talks about. Words are one thing, facts and talent another.

They played Josie tonight

 

Show was good tonight, but I don't understand why they end at 1050. There were 10 minutes left and they could have EASILY done 2 more songs and another joke song. Why not Up All Night and Adam's Song with Blow Job? Would have been perfection but still really fun. First time seeing them since 2011.

 

You know they haven't played Adams Song in like 5 years right?

 

ya I didn't know either but they retired Adam's Song way way back. After DJ AM's death right?

I agree! It's my favorite song off the album.

 

I like that the vocal mix in the verses is so upfront in clear in that remix. That beat drop is nearly insufferable though, and I don't even have anything against them.

 

DTE is super strict when it comes to 11 PM curfew, and the fines are outrageous. Don't blame them for not cutting it close.

 

Interesting that they are playing older cuts now (Don't Leave Me, Josie) in place of Kings of the Weekend. I would love to have them play Going Away to College at my show.
