Let's hold our breath until we disappear

I wish Target was getting "Hey, I'm Sorry" as a bonus track.

Again I'll say, absolutely ridiculous that California isn't the closer on this thing.

Yeah, really dumb to put a joke song as the last track. Especially when you have a great song like California that could've closed it out.

One thing I'm glad I haven't heard on these songs that All Time Low uses all the time is that really ugly sounding woosh or whatever that leads into some of their choruses. Was worried with Feldmann that would make it on but nope it sounds incredible

Shouldn't have put it on there at all.

For some reason, I still feel like that bonus track "Hey, I'm Sorry" doesn't exist. Like did we ever get a confirmation on it? I don't recall the band ever bringing it up

I don't know how to explain it but it's the only aspect of their music I don't like! You know like the "woosh" sound before the final chorus of Weightless. Very small critique but I don't like that sound at all and it's pretty common in their songs

is the purple vinyl actually 180g as well? It's a little blurry on an insta post but it looks like it

Edit: It is. That's upsetting cause I cancelled my purple one in favor of 180g black one. oh well :/

    Bonus track lyrics:

    Hey, I'm sorry
    After all this time
    It took us thirteen years
    To realize Tom
    Is out of his mind

    I am a haunted house. I'm superstitious.

I'm a little absent from the thread this week, but I've been busy listening to 'California' on repeat since last friday and discussing it with friends, trying to sink in this album. I'll admit I was a little reluctant with the idea of having any kind of 'return to form' with blink going for a poppier sound, resembling TOYPAJ or Enema days, even before we got to listen to 'Bored To Death'. Now, I have to say that this sound just suits them completely, and I'll always be happy to listen to Mark Hoppus singing those types of melodic, pop-punk songs.

The lyrics are a bit sillier than I'd like them to be? Definitely. Songs like 'She's Out Of Her Mind' (please don't let this be the 2nd single) and 'Kings Of The Weekend' have great melodies and instrumentals, but the lyrics throw me off instantly (I didn't say I skip them or don't sing along to them already, though. It's blink-fucking-182 afterall). It's like, I thought they were past this phase and the themes and lyrics we got in the past albums just suit them better at their age. It feels strange to listen to a 44 year old Mark singing lines like "It's Friday night let's lose our minds/In a downward spiral/Here we go/Because we got no control..." - once again, I have a lot of fun listening to these songs, but after the untitled album, WYHSB and Neighborhoods, I expected more from his lyrics.

Some months ago when they mentioned that the album had a californian vibe with a song tentatively titled Los Angeles, I said that it could make it kind of unrelatable for people living in other regions of the world, and someone said I was talking nonsense. Well, San Diego and Los Angeles are among the best tracks on this album, but I stand by what I said when a song like California starts. I'm just not feeling it, I've never been there, and it makes it really hard for this track to do something for me. Which is kind of a letdown, because I always have high expectations on closing tracks. The last part of the instrumental is really cool though.

Now, taking this aside, I really loved the album. Cynical and Left Alone are already amongst my favorite blink songs of all time. They represent everything I was expecting from the band. Travis kills it as he usually does, and Matt Skiba...oh Mr. Skiba, please never leave us. He got the whole thing right, this man knows exactly what he's doing. I'm really happy with this encarnation of blink-182. I can't wait to see them succeeding with this album ("Sober" is going to be HUGE) and conquering the world once again.

Haha I dunno i'll have to try listening for it. Feldmann's only produced one of their albums though (I think)

    Things have changed.

It's a cymbal hit played backward, and it's pretty common in pop-punk across the board.

  15. It's weird how All Time Low never seemed to get the same shit for co-writes Blink did on this album when they've been doing it since Nothing Personal.

Didn't they? I feel like they've been shit on for everything

  17. Probably true actually. Listening to Don't Panic tonight, holds up pretty well.

I know not to expect Shakespearean sonnet style writing for Blink-182, I wasn't at all expecting it. I even said the first time that the writing for SOOHM was bad, even by Blink or pop-punk standards. It's just my opinion that those lyrics fall way below even that.

Worst Hoppus song is "TV" if we don't count joke songs

  23. Oooof. That's definitely up there.

Honestly, "California" was one of my early favorites when I first heard the album. It's a very relaxing song, and Matt kills it when he comes in with his two lines in the chorus. Didn't need to grow on me at all like a few of the other songs did.
