So what you're wanting is California...your wish might just be coming true on July 1st

I bet in a few years a bunch of people will re-visit this album divorced of preconceptions and be like, god damn I was wrong. Cause it's a fun, stupid enjoyable pop-punk album you're gonna wanna goof around your house too. (Like their entire discography, minus those last two turds.) It's blink. And that'll shine through.

Good news! Anyone that preordered through their merch store can download No Future now!

It is exactly what will happen...so many people back in the day would hate on Enema, and now those same people are praising it as the Second coming of Christ...or just don't care about that genre of music anymore.

  5. It's all chasing nostalgia IMO. Like you can't tell me "Aliens Exist" or "Mutt" are better songs ... or that "First Date" or "M&Ms" are somehow better written. Time and place, time and place.

Clearly, different people see blink in a different perspective. Just because someone thinks they are a shitty singalong band with terrible lyrics that somehow puts said person in a good mood, it doesn't mean there can't be more to it.

Actually, at least for me, blink has enough diversity among their discography to create a vast array of feelings and imagery (yes, I think the band has its share of good lyrics). Maybe (just maybe) that's why people have different expectations...

And while I don't think the three proper songs we've gotten so far are top tier blink, I do enjoy them a lot.

So, the blink-182 fans that don't like any of the new songs are all idiots? The problem is us, not the songs?

  8. The worst part about ___ are the fans of ___

  9. Problem is definitely you if you don't like a song. Like, that's kinda how music works ... what you like is up to you. Take responsibility for your tastes.

Like most people here, I grew up listening to blink but I would never expect AOTY material out of them anymore. That's reserved for Brian Fallon, Butch Walker, Ryan Adams, and the like.

blink is just fun music now, that doesn't take itself too seriously. And for everyone expecting a +44 like album, this isn't the platform for that especially considering nobody really knows what the future looks like. Could you imagine if Mark vented all his frustrations on this record and in 2-5 years Tom is on stage singing songs in the vein of "Lycanthrope" or "No It Isn't" ???

    That would be so awkward.

Correct. That time I saw them in front of the 30 people I mentioned weeks ago. They were tight. But had no energy, presence or charisma. The singer seemed like such a dork too. Worst front man.
At least MEST that same night were half fun

    @TheBenThomas

As awkward as that would be...it almost seems like it did happen with "Heart's All Gone"

  13. You've only heard 1/3 of the album. Calm down haha. There's still 11 songs we haven't heard yet that could potentially blow these out of the water, and make these ones more tolerable for the people that dislike them.

    Ain't that the truth brother!
Cracking a few beers on a balcony, shooting the breeze with some buddies and having a fun album cranking is one of the finer things in life. Bring on next weekend!

I actually would say Aliens Exist and Mutt are better songs. The riff in between the verses in Aliens Exist is better than any guitar part in these new songs and I think the melodies are a lot better too (Yes the lyrics are still silly). I mean maybe I'm blinded by nostalgia but I could also be blinded by FINALLY getting my hands on some shiny new songs so really they cancel each other out and I'm being totally objective. Haha. I do like Bored to Death way more than First Date though.

  16. The worst thing Blink ever did, beside writing "The Party Song," was convincing impressionable youth that Untitled was super experimental.

Lurker of many many years (AP) finally joining. Want to be able to participate in the album discussion once released.

Digging the songs so far, and it's awesome to see Blink feel like Blink again. I wish the chorus was bigger and less poppy in "No Future". I could have seen it having a similar vibe as the chorus of Stay Together For The Kids. It just doesn't hit hard the way it is. Like it gets TOO happy all of a sudden. Still a fun pop song and I'm more of a fan of the happy/jumpy Blink, so I'll take it! Though, does anyone hear a T-Pain like sound in Mark's vocals when he says "Rise" in the beginning of the song? Obviously they're going to use pitch correction in the studio just like everybody else (and I have 0 problem with that), but I wish it was more hidden on that word. Stands out every listen. Maybe it's just me not hearing it right tho.

    Real excited for this album.

I wouldn't think so as most people had seen Tom move that direction with Box Car a year or 2 earlier

It's not super experimental, but it clearly sounds different and evokes other moods in comparison to most of EOTS or TOYPAJ.

I enjoy the party song and untitled much more than these 3 songs. Maybe it's just nostalgia though....
