That's fine, but there's still over 10 news songs that you haven't heard yet from the album, and I'm sure you wouldn't just flat out say that the entire album "sucks" without any specific reason to back it up. My original post was towards those reddit users that are overreacting about not liking the songs just because Tom isn't in the band. I'm assuming you're not as irrational as those reddit users.

Damn, didn't know that. I knew he was an asshole, but that's some next-level shit . . .

Also, I don't get the big deal with co-writes either. It's not all that dissimilar from working with a producer who helps you craft, and probably even write, some of the songs. I love how open and honest Good Old War were about it for their last album and how they wanted some help with their songs to take that leap.

You don't need a co-writer when Matt Skiba joins your band post-DED/Neighborhoods.

He can provide your band the change that it needs.

And yet, the 30 songs they wrote with him were cast aside.

Tom's AvA style took over much of their recent work so his departure and Matt's arrival should've easily solved the problem.

I had no idea he was that much of a shitlord. What's his problem?

are you saying that Matt didn't write anything that ended up on California? I do not believe that ta all

  8. My only question (well, two actually) about Blink using co-writes is...

    1. Why did they feel like they needed co-writers? Matt and Mark are both fantastic songwriters in their own right. I want to know what led to them deciding to go that route.

    2. Was it Feldmann that talked them into using co-writers? As far as I know, the bands he works with usually use co-writers, if I'm not mistaken. So if it was John's persuasiveness, I want to know why he thinks bands should do that.

I'm not saying it's right or wrong. I'm just genuinely curious why bands/producers choose to do that sometimes.

I want an AMA with John Feldmann and Mark Hoppus, stat!

That doesn't matter though. There's still nothing wrong with them using co-writes. And they absolutely NEEDED an outside producer like Feldmann to make them sound huge again and put energy back into the songs.

    1. Exactly. Why weren't those songs good enough? I want to hear this work more than California at this point.

    2. Asking Feldmann if your band needs a co-writer is like asking a painter if your house needs painting.

  17. Maybe so. But I'd love to know his reasoning behind that.

  18. It was the band's decision. Mark wanted to work with other people on the album to get some outside perspective. It's pretty clear Mark wanted some radio hits and for the album to be popular. So he worked with some people on the album. In 2016 you give co-writing credit in ways many didn't in 2001, so people freak out.

I need to sit this thread out, maybe forever.

  20. That's kinda what I figured. You can't blame them. They're getting more attention than they've gotten in a LONG time right now so it must be panning out the way they hoped it would!

  21. Occam's razor: They want the album to sell and be popular. When was the last time either of them had a song on the radio? Matt's a great song writer, but dude hasn't ever had a hit. Mark saw what happened with +44 and Neighborhoods. I don't think he wants another album to just do ok.

  22. Right. It makes total sense if that is their goal.

I really LOVE the first two tracks, but No Future is garbage.

  24. I think it was. Like why do it if you're not going to aim for those heights again. The size of the tour they're going on, the expectations are huge. The musical landscape in 2016 is different than it's been in a long, long time. Bands, labels, artists are paying millions to try and have a hit these days ... to get something to break out, just a little bit.
