Guess that means I'm going to 5 shows then. Kidding. Maybe.

That's awesome. My wife and I got married at a southern plantation and Always was our surprise (for me) recessional music

Really? I guess maybe from a marketing standpoint but it's another avenue of creativity for the band that extends their vision of the album. Not to mention that there are tons of talented filmmakers that still do amazing work. I would argue that lyric videos are pointless. They all use the same effects and look cheesy as hell.

  7. i agree that lyric videos are cheesy and pointless. but that's just the new trend lately.

i just don't care about music videos anymore.

I feel ya. Lyric videos are most prevalent in pop punk right? I don't ever see them anywhere outside of the genre.

Radiohead just did a music video with Paul Thomas Anderson, Beyoncé just did a spectacular video special. Music videos can still be powerful and beautiful and engaging. I liked most pre-breakup blink videos, especially "Always", so I'd definitely be down for a new blink video.

Yessss. I posted about that one a few million pages back-- Director Joseph Kahn is amazing. He's done all of TSwift's latest videos and actually just released a really great video for One Republic today (or yesterday). I really love his video for Always.

I see lyric videos all over the place through many genres.

Feldmann is known for prioritizing the record/studio/production, not the live performance. When I first heard 'Bored to Death,' one of my first thoughts was how Mark wouldn't be able to consistently sing this song night after night. Weenie Roast confirmed that fear.

And, since Mark is the face (and voice) of Blink-182 now, I think it's important that they write songs that are within his wheelhouse. But, by using Feldmann, a guy who's known for prioritizing the record above anything else, I'm worried that Mark is going to have a tough time performing many of the new songs that Feldmann co-wrote.

Conversely, producers, such as Butch Vig, are quite concerned with their production choices and whether they serve both the record AND the live performance.

I know Mark has been off and on for years but at least write songs that are written within his range so he has a chance to be consistent each night, unlike 'Bored to Death.'

Again, this is what upsets me most about Tom's nonsense as Mark's prime was wasted (vocally). Travis' skills are only getting better, but time is not on Mark's side.

And Mark knew the clock was ticking. That's why he was finally willing to part ways with Tom, something he never would've done a decade ago. He couldn't afford to wait any longer.

I think at the end of the day, having an incredible, well produced/written record is more important than being able to sing perfectly every night during live performances. Great albums last forever. Live performances don't.

We both know you'd shit your pants out of pure joy if Blink dropped an A+ music video the same way the rest of us would. You can't fool us, Bradley haha

I like that Feldmann pushed Mark out of his comfort range in bored to death! I feel like it gave the song the energy it needed.

    nailed it.

especially a band like blink, they were never a stellar live band but still had a great live show, if that makes sense.

  19. if they released a badass video like "the rock show" or "all the small things" or "always", then yes. but if it's like "up all night" or "after midnight" or "down" or "i miss you", then count me out, haha.

I love music videos, absolutely despise lyric videos, they always seem cheesy and pointless, would rather just have a album cover on the screen. I think music videos are an important part of an albums cycle, and like when artists do as much as they can to maximize the music experience in anyway. They'll never go out of style for me.

I like when they acted in their videos over having actors do it while they just play the music.
