By the sound of it, I'm pretty sure they're only ever gonna play Cynical, Bored to Death, She's Out of Her Mind, Rabbit Hole and Built This Pool live. Pretty bummed that we haven't heard anything about the majority of the songs but they keep talking about the same two.

They've also talked about Home is Such a Lonely Place, and in that interview Mark touches on songs with synths and electronic programming.

Nonetheless, I think the point of them mentioning those songs specifically is because they're the "throwback" songs on the record, and they're trying to rekindle that old fire.

Not sure the last time we talked about BTD stream numbers but...

    YouTube video = 4m views
    Spotify = 6m plays

    This is awesome!

Spotify monthly listener count continues to grow also! So happy to see this band trending upwards again.

Ditto. I want people talking about Blink again!

It makes more sense to me that the line would be "And all my friends are daring me to go over" instead of them saying "And all my friends are daring me to come over." The picture I see in my head is all his friends daring him to go over and buy that girl and drink right? I dunno. Just my opinion

It is grammatically incorrect, unless his friends are daring him to come be with them, but that's pretty clearly not the case.

Again, I'm fairly certain it's intentional sexual innuendo, which would explain the choice of words haha

Yeah pretty obviously intentional lol. Classic blink. I love it.

  10. Mark said it wasn't, but maybe it was. Or maybe it's just bad grammar. It wouldn't be the first time they used weird grammar in songs.

Seems like just weird grammar to me

It always makes me feel a bit weird when bands tout their upcoming material as being like their older stuff. I'm sure it'll be great, but I kinda would like them to be wanting progression than regression

To me it just feels like they're pandering.

Yeah, I can see that too. A lot of bands do that when they get older, I remember people giving Taking Back Sunday shit for saying some new stuff sounds like TAYF, and other examples I can't remember. It's to get older fans stoked, whether it ends up being true or not I suppose

Maybe it's because I'm less invested in blink-182 as like, top 10 favorite artists currently making music like I was pre-2011, but I don't mind them going throwback. Maybe for where they're at, throwback pop punk songs are what work for them. Maybe they'll throw a different spin (no pun intended) on the old sound or show some growth lyrically. I'd prefer they keep pushing in the more sonically interesting direction of untitled, as that's my favorite album of theirs, but I'd rather they do what they're interested in above anything else. It probably won't jive with what I'm personally into as much, but at the core I just want the songs to be good. Neighborhoods wasn't lackluster because they were trying to continue pushing their sound forward, it was lackluster because the songs were lackluster. Say Anything's last album wasn't terrible because it was a regression or a throwback to raw punk, it was terrible because the songs were terrible.

Playing punk rock songs is not regression.

I don't think anyone's implying that; but when your main comparison when discussing the album are albums from 15 years ago, it just comes off as pandering.

It's kind of a step back but I'm fine with it. Untitled is my favorite blink record, but in retrospect it seems obvious that after Boxcar they haven't really totally enjoyed making music with Tom. Ever since Tom started to take himself way too seriously. The guys saying it's a mix between Enema and Untitled sounds perfect to me. If Mark and Travis are fully invested in it, I know I'm going to love it.

  21. there's like a million songs on the album, 5 or 6 of them sound like they'll be throwback songs, and the other ones might be just new sounding blink shit. i'm not worried. hell, if they did a whole album like "built this pool" i'd probably eat it up. so whatever. i just want blink music again!

Hard to view it that way when they weren't active for most of those years, and the 2/3 remaining members from that era pretty clearly never wanted to stop playing that music in the first place.

They've also simply said the songs could fit on those records, not that they sound exactly alike or are clones of older songs. You can't really pick and choose those quotes to justify your argument when they've also repeatedly said there are songs on here unlike anything they've ever done.

Not to sound combative, it just doesn't make sense to me. These guys want to play punk rock, and never wanted to stop playing it. There's no regression here.

Most my favorites bands are constantly evolving where I have no idea what their new record is gonna sound like. I enjoy Bored to Death, but everything in that song has been done before. The album is going to sound familiar when we hear it I'm sure, going The Force Awakens route. I do believe it's a regression to make punk rock music, but I've moved past the genre long ago.

It doesn't sound a like a regression. It just sounds like some people are no longer in to punk rock or never were. That is totally fair. Doesn't make it a regression for others to play it though.
